Re: 15th16th November 2014 Balaclava

Recent e-mails from Bob L confirm the sleepless nights as Bob organises Balaclava on a 1:10 scale! The reinforcements to the chassis of Bob's car are simply to get him down here in one piece, not to bulldoze the enemy on the games table. I understand that we have a full slate of players who play to ...

TARGE 2014 Saturday 8th November 2014

TARGE 2014 on Saturday 8th November takes place in Websters High School, Prosen Road, Kirriemuir. Eighteen clubs/groups, large and small, are displaying with the largest number of participation tables we have ever had. There are actually more than 18 tables with some clubs putting on more than one, ...

Re: Bactrian Greek Project

Like Dave O’Brien I was not very impressed by the Impetus rules. I’ve only seen them in action a few times, usually at SESWC evening meetings where I have been along as guest several times and agree with Dave’s comments. Hail Caesar does require greater figure investment but big blocks look great. H...

Re: 16th/17th November 2013 1690 or thereabouts

An excellent weekend. Thanks to Colin for stepping into the breech and running a series of Bolt Action WWII scenarios, all balanced and challenging.
Dinner in the Swan was back up to earlier standards.
The 2013 dates continue as previosly announced.

Re: 16th/17th November 2013 1690 or thereabouts

As most of you will know we have diminished numbers for this weekend and because of circumstances this will be a World War II bash in 28mm using Bolt Action rules and run by Colin with everyone contributing figures/vehicles where they can. Can we assemble at the hall from 7.00pm to set up the tables...

Barry is not mad!

Barry is not mad - at least not as completely as we thought he was. Barry will have lost count of the thousands of wargames figures he has painted over the last twenty odd years. However to set things in perspective check out on You Tube the site entitled Cavalry on Mass. The painter obviously means...

2015 Dates

The provisional dates for 2015 are 14th/15th March, 20th/21st June and 21st/22nd November.

No games have been thrown into the pot yet but I'd be surprised if Waterloo campaign doesn't feature somewhere.

15th16th November 2014 Balaclava

Bob Lauder, the LoGW Crimean War specialist is organising this one after his earlier success last year. The Crimea has been a labour of love for Bob who has been building up huge armies for all nations over the years. There is probably no truth in the rumour that, once he has located his missing red...

14th/15th June 2014 ACW

American Civil War. This will be a first for the LoGW. I wasn't in the pub when this was suggested so can't say who is organising the game or if it is to be a particular battle.

15th/16th March 2014 Caribbean Island Hopper

Could this be another epic in the making. Is this a Colin and Dave co-production?

Charles G has been seen with interesting ship shaped parcels and I hope to have additional fleet capability by then too.

Very belated thanks to Colin, Dave and Peter N for an enjoyable weekend with special thanks to Peter McC for saving his special card to play on me  as the very last action of the game  Angus, apologies for forgetting to wind you up about the game where you slept through the heroic exploits...

Are we assembling in the Guide Halls at 7.00pm? Dave/Peter, if I get along earlier what do you want out in terms of tables and boards.
Now, where did I put my boonie hat?

Re: 16th/17th March 2013 Back of Beyond

As soon as the dispositions were revealed I realized that I was going to have to play the “white man” for the weekend. Gazing from wonderful Samarkand towards beautiful Tashkent my Army of God decided that it would be very unsportsmanlike to attack Colin in Tashkent since he was umpiring much of the...
