Potential gaming convention for ELWS - USA

Hello and sorry for the plug here but I thought this might be a good space to post a message for this very period. The Early Linear Warfare Society was formed with a goal of putting on more games for the wars in the 1660-1721 period. There currently is a gaming convention planned for the dates of Ju...

Number of battalions in each French Regiment during WSS

Gentlemen, I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I did try to search for this information and obviously did not find it. Does anyone have this information? How many battalions did each French regiment have during the WSS? The reason I ask is that our group has reduced the number of figures we...

Iain, in your math you had 102 servants removed from the British figure to get a truer number. Are your numbers for the French, Austrians (and all others really) also showing a reduction of servants? I just want to be able to compare apples to apples in the numbers. Thank you.

Forming square in WSS period

I did a search for forming square and most of the discussions were around the LoA period. So, did it happen in the WSS period? I don't remember reading of any squares being formed but I may have overlooked it. Any thoughts?

The '4 or 5 ranks' would be for Infantry while Cavalry was in 3 ranks. This is an interesting discussion. Thanks for all the tidbits.

Are those metal or the plastic? I went out to the Victrix site and all I could find was hard plastic.

Woo Hoo!!!!!! Not that it will help the French that much but it will be cool to paint them up. Thank you Iain for your reply and most of all for your knowledge and help in this subject matter. When are you going to make it back out to a Historicon again? The theme for Historicon 2010 is "Pike and S...

Question on OOB for Ramillies & Oudenarde

I've been looking over the OOBs in the two latest books on these battles (Ramillies by Neil Litten & Oudenarde by Christopher Scott). My question is in the Ramillies book it shows: General Nauthaff Maison du Roi 13 squadrons Gardes du Corps {8} Gendarmes {1} Chevau-Legers {1} Mousquetaires Gris {1} ...

Barry,

Have you playtested the Republic part of the rules yet? It seems like the Empire side of it is working fine. :)

Iain, Thank you so much. I suspected that this might be the case. Someone on TMP said 'just far enough back to be safe but close enough when needed'. That helped a lot. One of the reasons I ask is as our group's rules evolve and dismounting happens I know someone is going to want to shoot at t...
