Re: Books/internet links Duch Forces 1660-1721 uniforms and

Thanks Clibinarium None taken. It was not your particular posting which annoyed me as I understood where you were coming from. I must admit a 4 letter word came to mind when I saw the price  ! For me the purchase was a matter of time and convenience, and like you say I also have much of the mat...

Re: Books/internet links Duch Forces 1660-1721 uniforms and

On the theme about Dutch cavalry flags,I am painting the Dutch Cav unit Heyden, and the CD has the company standard on its colour plate, which it describes in the text as having a light/sky blue background. The blue background looks more mid/cornflower blue than light/sky blue on the plate but does ...

Having had another look - there appears to be at least 1 flag for every cavalry unit, so some of these will be new.

Re: Books/internet links Duch Forces 1660-1721 uniforms and

There are 526 pages to go through, with 100+ colour plates so will probably take a while to go through. It is very comprehensive, and not being able to speak German it is nice to have it in English, and all in one place (I have the German CD's and booklets etc which proceeded this CD). On a quick in...

Re: Sources of artillery images for WSS

Günter thank you for the support :) , and the interesting photo's and references. They may be (as you said) not from the WSS but they do highlight how much info is out there, also that the interest in military history, reinactment socities etc is universal and not just restricted to "the english spe...

Re: Sources of artillery images for WSS

Ray Read the emails again  :x . If you dont understand it get someone who does to read it to you. There are more pictures of the gun , and it came from someone in the USA who was on holiday (I think in Europe) and came across the gun at a Military Museum and whe he enquired about the gun was t...

Re: Sources of artillery images for WSS

Ray With all due respect - could you read what I said!_ I said it is was was "said" to be a gun from the WSS, as the source I got it from indicated that it was. Just because it does not confirm with what you think or know does not make it right or wrong. It might come from a source you are not aware...

If all the 3 lbrs were this size then I would imagine that they would would be man handleable on the battlefield.

Re: 1704 Battalion guns uniforms?

Hi Link to photos of what is said to be a WSS French 3 pounder. Interesting to see how small the gun and its carriage is. Hardly coming up to the person in the photo's waist. I would imagine that a gun like this would be very easy to move round a battlefield compared to the bigger guns. The French d...

Re: Light troops & Smaller actions 1680 1700

Hi The Hungerians had light troops during this period (uniformed effectively as dismounted hussars), but I do not think any of them (apart from the mounted hussar units) fought in the 9YW or WSS except against either the Turks or the Austrian Imperial forces during the various Hungerian "insurrectio...
