Re: Representing the Maison Du Roi Cavalry.

This picture shows rifle/musqueton http://www.christ-roi.net/images/3/3f/Gendarmes_et_chevaux_l%C3%A9gers%2C_Gravure_tir%C3%A9e_de_L%27Ecole_de_Mars_de_Manesson_Mallet.JPG But this in only one, so no evidence. I also don't know if this pictures shows the Maison du Roi gendarmes and CL or the Gendarm...

Re: Representing the Maison Du Roi Cavalry.

Arthus, I don't say that Belhomme is right but at least it isn't clear. The pictures you have showed are also from the (mid) 19th century so aren't primary sources too. At least I think they are from the series as shown here http://www.geheugenvannederland.nl/?/indonesie_onafhankelijk_-_fotos_1947-1...

Re: Representing the Maison Du Roi Cavalry.

Arthur, according to Belhomme, the squadron of gendarmerie de la garde also had the mousqeton. The armament of the cheveau leger isn't mentioned but as all other had the mousqeton, I doubt they did not have them. As said, information by Belhomme. Regarding the grenadiers, I doubt that a wider belt i...

Re: Representing the Maison Du Roi Cavalry.

Garde du Corps, Gendarmes en Chevau-léger would almost be the same as line cavalry, maybe more eleborate hats and linings to the coat. As far as I know, officers/standard bearer and trumpeter of the line wore already more eleborate coats/hats so only extra figures of men would be needed imho. (altho...

Re: Representing the Maison Du Roi Cavalry.

According to Belhomme," l'armee Francaise en 1690" the strength of the maison du roi was the following: Garde du corps 4 compagnies, each of 6 brigades, each brigade of 8 officers and 71 men or (with compagnie staf of 3) a total per compagnie of 477 men (50off+427men). Total corps strength (incl sta...

Re: Vendee 1794, the counter revolution continues.

Dave, I know. I am interested in the 1792-1795 period in the Nethelands, Belgium and Germany. Have already a lot of figures lying around (well, in boxes) but the time is the problem. We are now preparing for Crisis/Antwerp (15mm Balck Powder Napoleonic in Spain) and our theme for next year will be E...
