Hi Barry,
I believe your design was to use it as a rare last ditch"we need to win this fight", but it turned into everyday use. When teaching the rules I don't even cover it as an option.
The All or Nothing combat bonus of number of stands that get to fight only count in the initial bound of combat. After that the additional sqdns only provide support bonuses. Morale results are carried across all sqdns involved like normal and combat is lost once the principle unit is wiped out.
The below is based on the horse being in range to charge with no wheel etc The horse declare a charge on a unit of foot and pass morale to do so The unit of foot checks morale for being charged and pass The foot roll on the stand and fire table, then issue fire based on the result The horse check mo...
Not sure of a posting somewhere that mentions the differences. But, the big one is different dice for different morale grades, D6 Raw, D8 Drilled etc. The addition of special characters, Master Gunner and the like. In short they brought BlB 3 in line with the Donnybrook rules. The events options wer...
It's not really covered in the rules Gordon. My take would be as follows. First the charging horse has to pass morale to charge. Retreat and routing units are not interested in sticking around so ignore the rule that they have to check morale and move to (pg 70) 1/4 increments to see if contact is m...
A slight editing typo you may want to add to ant errata you create Barry.
Dense target is covered on page 74 for both artillery and musketry. Non charging horse (unless in a single line) and foot in column of march (unless shooting at the side of the column) are considered dense targets.
Thanks Barry and you're correct, don't be shy to post rules questions here Joe. I was heavily involved in the 2nd edition of the rules so I have a solid background with some of Barry's intentions that still apply to this version. I unfortunately didn't have any input to this version while it was bei...
Here's how I see how the rules would apply in your given situations. 1. Does Command radius effect orders? We have played it that units outside their commanders radius or that of the Supreme Commander can’t be given orders? It only affects the positive and negative moral and other modifiers to a uni...
I'll take a crack at these. 1] Routs & Pursuits - Do these occur immediately upon taking the morale test or do you wait until the compulsory moves phase that occurs at the beginning of the first turn. If they occur immediately do you then rout/pursue again at the beginning of the turn. This one is m...
I too apologize, I have been busy with the sudden arrival of a 6 yr old placed into my care. I see that Clarence got to your inquiries so glad for that.
Not what you wanted but here is a link to King James Army in Ireland, still a good look through. It is a thick book, I have it in hardback at home as well. https://books.google.com/books?id=DuQ2cIDaU6cC&printsec=frontcover&dq=james+II+army&hl=en&sa=X&ei=8zNBVfPIOo3GogTok4DgCg&ved=0CFsQ6AEwCQ#v=onepa...
Not a fan of Maurice but some interesting ideas. I have Blucher, read but not played yet. I have some 6mm figs to make a few units, which I think are the best scale to use for these rules. They are corps and army sized rules so having 28's would work against believing the scale. I'm having a hard ti...
