Gardes te Paard organization

I'm trying to figure out how to add these to my army, and so figuring out how to paint them. Hall says that each troop had a different color for its hat feathers and he refers to 3 troops. What is a troop, in this context? It looks like they operated as 2 squadrons of 6 companies. I'm guessing a tro...

BLB3 compared to BLB2?

Is there a description somewhere of the differences between the two? I'm not looking for a detailed list of changes but more of a summary of how BLB3 has changed from BLB2 at a high-level. I imagine one must exist, but I've done a little searching and not been able to find it. So, thought I'd ask he...

Danish Livgarden til Fods flag

League of Augsburg makes these labeled for 1710. On the Robert Hall plate there is a different flag - I think that plate is for the time of Ramillies, but am not sure where the info for the flag is from. Does anyone know whenever the switchover happened between that flag and the flag for 1710? Or is...

Re: French Garde du Corps bandoleers

That's perfect, thanks!

I guess they would normally have a carbine hung from that bandoleer, or was it always worn regardless?

Bavarian infantry War of Spanish Succession

My google fu is weak. I used to have, err, I thought I had, a bookmark of a photograph of a mannequin of a Bavarian soldier from the War of Spanish Succession in a museum in Germany. Not only do I not have the bookmark, I don't seem to be able to find it with Google search. Anyone here recall that p...

French Garde du Corps bandoleers

I'm looking at these in my Robert Hall book. I'm trying to figure out what they actually look like. There are little squares of different colors for each of the regiments. What are they? Purely a decoration that is painted on? Or is it somehow raised?

Thanks.

Re: artillery at Ramillies

Thanks, folks. @theRightfulKing - I'm a bit skeptical about that. Were the Brits using 9lbers then? I believe the Dutch used 6 and 12 lbers so this would make the medium guns all British provided, which gives me a skeptical. I did find this OBAT: http://obscurebattles.blogspot.com/2016/09/ramillies-...

artillery at Ramillies

Does anyone have a breakdown of the guns used on each side at Ramilllies? I'm not sure I've ever seen anything below the totals on each side although here and there I've seen tidbits about a certain number of guns there - for example, Hall says the Dutch had 20 24 lb siege guns there.

Re: Books/internet links Duch Forces 1660-1721 uniforms and

All, ref Robert's book on the Dutch - Definitely HB and PB can't see any refs to electronic, but that's not to say it would never happen. Mike. Did they ever get around to a print edition for this? I was showing a friend of mine my electronic copy and he was wondering if there was a print copy. I d...

Re: Ansbach regiment Castell

I only have two Ansbach units in my obat for Ramillies. The foot unit I have listed as Jung-Seckendorff. I can't find any notes beyond a note I have that says blue with carmine facings. Not sure where I got that. Hall doesn't make a plate for them. The other Ansbach unit I have is the Schmettau drag...

Nice site, Tacitus. Thanks for doing all the work.

I don't like your data as I already painted two battalions of Prinz Carl as gray with yellow facings

Re: Regiment Bois D'avid, Luneburg-Zell

there seem's to be quiet a few infantry standards in the Kuhn book which seem to be from the seven years war period. wondering if any one has any info apart from Kuhn on hanoverian standards of the wss. Once I started a discussion about Hanoverian flags on TMP forum and Lace Wars also. I've noticed...
