Size of anything is a well balanced decision of the options. More brigades in a division means more dice for MPs, but chances are one or more brigades will be out of the divisional generals range. More battalions in a brigade make it more resilient to losses, but may have elements out of range of th...

We had been playing that form from disorder meant no other movement was allowed, but form to another formation didn't prevent multiple activations of that unit.

Command And Control - Intent of rules

In trying to adapt the rules to 15mm there is one area we have debated, the command radii. Is the intention to have parts of the brigade out of the radius and so make it more difficult to do everything you want. Or, as long as the units are deployed reasonably, all units should be within the command...

Thanks Kerry. It was great to meet Peter and Craig. Unfortunately, we did bite off more than we could chew and perhaps should have played with about a third fewer units. We thought a full 6x12 table would be too big so placed the river and hills on the flanks, cutting the table down to 9 feet. This ...

Hi Rob, I think having a basing system that allows for playing other rules is important in case you end up playing people who don't use RtE. I started my gaming with General de Brigade. I believe the basing system for that was the same as for In the Grand Manner. Frontages are given as: 8-10mm per i...

I'm sure Chook will be comfortable enough to venture an opinion if Dave would be kind enough to drop his trousers  I think there is a degree of transferrence here. VB is the first Proctopsychologist I have known. Specialises in arses and mad people. Actually, most of his clientelle may be poli...

How to Rate Historical Commanders

Yes, I know, this is a great way to start a fight. But it is interesting considering how to rate actual corps and divisional commanders for our game. Some were good on one day, poor on others. Some shone as divisional generals but failed as corps or army commanders Of the three sets of rules I have ...

As ever, thanks for the prompt replies.

Sorry to find a typo again.

Perhaps it would just be easier if one of you came out here to show us how to play. Tauranga is great in the summer. :)

Actually, found the answer on page 57. However, what happens if I use multiple actions? .Horse artillery, in a single move, may fire and limber or unlimber and fire or move half and unlimber or limber and move half. If I do one of these and then do a single unit activation could Ifire and limber, th...

Sorry!!!! A couple of Artillery questions.

1. Are the retreat and rout rates right for artillery. In the fold out tables the retreat rate is faster than rout. 2. 3-6pdr and horse artillery can fire if moved. Does this mean after manhandling them or a true move. Can this still occur if exploitation or multiple Single Unit Actions are used? I ...
