Wot a good idea...... Nominations for the DISHONOUR ROLL from Back of Beyond, a perfect antedote to the flashing blade hystrionics of the Napoleonic era...: Barry I wouldn't bother making up a list, you are the obvious winner. Never in the field of wargaming history has so much double-dealing, back...

Apart from my honest, forthright and generally predictable approach to empire building in Manchuria  I have the following assessments to make of my 'rivals' :D And as for the Umpires.............................. As we will be umpiring the next game I assume you were going to say something al...

As the drug crazed Count Yuri has rightly pointed out Phatti was indeed hiding in the pink palace and although many people had been through the palace unless you knew the hiding place she would not have been found. Many people have also been through Phatti but that's another story and don't tell the...

It was very interesting doing the scoring and seeing how the lead changed from each category. At one point David was in the lead but when you looked at another Steve was in the lead then it was Dale and Adrian and finally when they were all added together Mike ended up the winner which was quite sur...

The Brits didn't get in but some Indian Army of God managed to sneak in the back door. David, just incase you are wondering Mike Anderson's Chinese army won the game. If you took away your playsheet have a look in the middle and you will find your campaign medal for taking part in the game. We hope ...

Barry, I hope you managed to get a shot of the destroyed monastry, blown up by Peter's evil film crew. Even worse was Dale's Bolsheviks gunning down the fleeing monks in the back because he thought they were the film crew in disguise. At least that's the excuse he's giving.

Cheers
Dave

Barry, the pics have turned out really well. I hope you don't mind me using some of them for my Back of Beyond newsletter and a full report of what appeared to be going on. Having said that there seemed to be some dodgy dealings going on that event us umpires didn't know about. The weekend went so w...

If we decide on the Crimea as the next setting for the LOGW I could certainly borrow my mates French troops and might be inclined to add some to it myself as we can always use more for our Franco-Prussian games and Italian war of independence games. Plus French troops look so pretty how can you not ...

If we went for a Crimean game my Austrians could also be used as a what-if event. The main reason the Russians propossed a peace treaty with the Turks was because of the Austrian army poised on their flank and making threatening noises. When the Russians eventually pulled back, three Austrian corps ...

Perhaps it should be up for a mention for the next game after Back of Beyond, I would be keen to paint some figures for it if we needed any more. Do you or Bob have any of the Britannia Crimean figures they produced for the Caucasus? Apart form being used in the Crimea they can also be used as palac...

Crimean War

Barry, just noticed your pics of your Crimean figures after Martin's comments about the walls of Silistra. Very inspiring stuff and I'm very pleased to see someone else that rejects the rubbish that the Brits and French put out about the Turks. They had fought the Russians to a standstill in the Bal...

I have tried Warhammer very successfully for Rennaissance battles where we even ended up with historical results. This was before WECW came out or even Armies of Chivalry which has lists for troop types of the early Rennaissance period. I'm probably biased as I have been using Warhammer for many yea...

You could have a long wait on your hands, I once had to wait for 13 months to get figures off Duncan despite repeated reminders. It got to the stage that even Duncan was embarassed at his ineptitude and eventually gave me the figures and my money back. On the plus side the figures are lovely and wel...

Hi Barry, there would be no problem using your Poles, although they would be Czech's. Huge numbers of Czech's fighting for the Austro-Hungarian empire were actually Polish troops and the Czech uniform looks very Polish. Colin use lots of WW1 Austrians as well so there will be lots to go round. Multi...

Hi Peter, I wouldn't worry too much about the figures, with Colin's large collection, Kevin's and mine we should have plenty of spare figures to go around. The other thing to remember is that unlike the Napoleonic bashes there will not be huge armies rampaging across the table and the objectives are...
