Oh, I think we all want explanatory notes, in fact I ask for more at the end of my 'review', but I think players also want explanations which are both brief and concise. It is my suspicion that it is this density of text which is the source of much of the 'pushback' to the rules (at least by my read...

R2E First Play Report (Small Engagement)

Hello, For those who may be interested I've posted a 'first play' report of our recent foray into Republic to Empire on my blog: http://analogue-hobbies.blogspot.com/ The scenario I put on is a amalgamation of Mr. Harrison's small-unit action (kindly provided on his blog) and some bits of inspiratio...

Yeah, just a couple more days and I could have squeaked it in (even just to observe), oh well. We try to get over here once a year so we'll see if we can line things up better next time. Nonetheless today I did manage a visit to the newly refurbished Musee de l'Armee at les Invalides. Simply amazing...

Hi Barry and all those Lucky Lundin Linksters, My wife and I are in Europe right now on vacation (which is great) but unfortunately we leave out of London on the 16th (which is not so great)! Logistics make it too difficult to change our departure so I'll be tipping my hat to you all as we wing back...

Thanks for the kind words, Andrea. For the rank-and-file I use a 30x50mm thin metal base (wxd) with four models on each. I find this give a nice compact shoulder-to-shoulder look (15mm frontage per figure) while allows some room to accommodate leveled muskets, mounted officers, angled flags, sword a...

ECW Regiment of Foot

I've been settling into my hobby space in our new/old house and have been slowly unpacking stuff that has been squirreled away in boxes for years. Anyway, here's an old chestnut from the lead archive. A regiment of ECW foot composed Redoubt castings which I painted, cripes, oh, about ten or so years...

Thank you all for your kind words. Barry, I have been a great admirer of your work over the years so your comments are very encouraging. 18th Century Guy: I hear you. Except for the wage/salary, growing up, I believe, is highly over-rated. I have been blessed with a wife who tolerates (if not encour...

Victrix 1804-07 French

Hi all, I picked up a copy of R2E earlier this summer (brilliant stuff by the way) and I've been lurking around this site for a few weeks now getting information, inspiration and tips on the rules which has been very helpful. Anyway, I thought I'd 'kick in' and submit a few pics of the stuff I've be...
