1690 Lord Grand Prior's Regiment

Finished these chaps over the bank holiday weekend.

I should probably mention I had Ray's blog in front of me with a photo of the same regiment as a helpful painting guide!

Cheers.

Re: Which faction will YOU do?

Barry, Same here, I have a pre-order w/Bob at LRS. From the play testing I did, I already have a Cult, Army and Tribal (Moors) factions. I need another 12 figures for a European mob faction. That groups seems to eat up a lot of figures with them being raw. I just got my Old Glory order in that came...

Aughrim Book and Jacobite Grenadiers Question?

Hi Chaps, Whilst reading the Mike McNally Aughrim book I came across a section that mentioned the thirteenth company of each regiment in the Jacobite forces being given muskets '...and equipped as Grenadiers where possible ' (my emphasis). Does this suggest that many of the regiments in the Jacobite...

Re: Which faction will YOU do?

I'm just in the process of ordering some Scots Covenanters and other unit packs from Reiver (slightly kicking myself for flogging a load of Foundry Highland Levy about a year ago now I could use 'em). Along with the book "The Killing Time" by David Ross from Amazon. Hopefully it'll inspire some inte...

Question about Imperial Austrian Troops 1683-1700

Hi Guys, I've a few packs of Austrian Infantry and command in broad brimmed hats ready for the painting table, along with what appears to be a decent uniform guide for the period: http://www.xenophon-mil.org/milhist/austrianarmy/austrianbl-1s.htm As I'm relatively new to the period (I've ordered a c...

Donnybrook at Vapnartak 2014

Just wanted to say that it was great to see the folks from LOA with the Donnybrook game at York today. The table and figures looked really fantastic. Picked up my preorder rulebook which definitely lives up to the hype. I'll try and get some photos of the Reiver WSS figures I bought onto the blog so...

Re: Which faction will YOU do?

Hmm? I like the Vendee idea, or perhaps the 3 Musketeers??? they'd both fit it perfectly!! Oh god my mind's wandering where I don't want it to go............what have you done to me, I swore I'd never do another 25mm period!!! My ideas for the Vendee also involve Horatio Hornblower, the Scarlett Pi...

Re: Taken the Plunge. What Next?

Thanks :D The Kindle version is only £10, but I've also found paperback copies on other sites from around £16 - not bad, so I'll definitely be getting it in one version or another. Also noticed the reading list on the LOA blog site which is pretty useful. If anyone has any others they'd like to cont...

Taken the Plunge. What Next?

So having stubbornly refused to take up another period to Wargame, as mentioned in previous posts I finally gave in to the lovely looking 'Donnybrook'. After Barry's article in the recent issue of WI and the nice array of miniatures produced I think I can definitely get into this. However, unlike th...

Hi Raif,

I like the sound of a Three Muskateers skirmish game. Can you keep us updated to how it comes along? Also, what figures were you thinking of using?

Re: Foundry self flagellation

Yes, I've been following the changes at Foundry for the past few months. I've always liked their detail and range. At one point the majority of my collection were manufactured by them. My number one issue became the price (as I'm sure many would agree). During the worst of our recent frosty financia...

DBMM Abbreviations?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some help on the troop abbreviations for (what I think is) Medieval High Period troops in DBMM. I'm collecting together a Wars of the Roses Army and a friend gave me a photocopy of a section of the Army List (but not the intro). We're not actually using DBMM ruleset, just t...
