Pipers in Irish Brigade.....how can I get it right?

Was reading around....thought it was nonsense at first, but indeed they had them, and they even had a green set of Irish war pipes used at Fontenoy in a museum in France, somewhere.....There's zero info on what such a piper would have worn and obviously, I'll have to do a conversion, but to what? Tr...

Re: Austrian/Bavarian Order of Battle for Mohacs in 1687?

These all seem to be Austrians. Where are the Bavarians? Perhaps a little brusque - a 'thank you' might encourage further research ! ;-) No worries. Some goods news, though. I think I have now found the 'Ober Rhein' Regiment. Robert Hall's book 'The Military of the Upper Rhine Circle' confirms that...

Re: Austrian/Bavarian Order of Battle for Mohacs in 1687?

Help me then with the left Wing Infantry (guessing it's the red ones) What are extra units? Where are they from? We know where these are from Lieb Regiment (Bavarian) Baden-Durlach Regiment Baden-Baden Regiment Assuming Austrians Serini's Regiment? Found mention of this unit fighting with Eugene in ...

Re: Dutch Artillery

Hi Churchill......I'm getting back in the period, started doing some 15mm Lurkio stuff, but eyeing the Old Dixon 25's and thinking I might do a small Bavarian Army for FOGR

Re: Dutch Artillery

I don't think they were crazy enough not to paint their gun carriages......IMO, especially in a - climate like Ireland. Once the water gets in and the wood soaks everything up it will get spongy and screw up all the math. Artillerists nightmare.

What color were they in the WSS?

No worries, I actually ended up going with Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish. It's about ten times as cheap and give a perfect flat finish...no sheen whatsoever. It looks a bit like white pva glu so you got to add a little water to it, but it dries clear and doesn't mess anything up. I am still going...

I might have bought a different product, it says "Windsor and Newton conserve art matte varnish." I looked on their website and it said - "for those who want a finish with no sheen." I figured that would be me, but when I put it on the model, I didn't just get sheen, I could see my reflection. Oh we...

Unless this stuff takes a couple of weeks to dry, it's an epic fail. Right now my model looks like its been dipped in a vat of gloss coat
