Re: Siege of Athlone for May Partizan 2016,

Cheers Dave just a correction with the acoustics of the new venue- it's Andy Bowes, not Adam! :D Many thanks for the compliments on the Game- we're expanding it next time, then Scots vs Newcastle's troops next year. It will be nice to see the pics- the Athlone game caught my eye, but I only managed ...

Re: Sir Ralph Dutton regiment of foot

Hi Daniel Ronan has it right, from a trawl through my bookshelf. :D Dutton's were at Edgehill, and their Colonel was Sir Ralph Dutton, Lt Col Stephen Hawkins. Hawkins took over the regiment around the turn of 1644, probably early spring of that year. The regiment were involved in the June/July in th...

Re: William Waller's Army

Hi Gunter Good question re: 30 Years War vs ECW. My reasons why I prefer ECW are varied, but come largely down to what I can relate to. I like the IDEA of gaming the TYW, but I find it hard to relate to, to get a feel for. Whilst it's getting easier to find excellent resources to help build up armie...

Re: Donnybrook ECW

Cheers for the kind words Barry - I really appreciate them, as it keeps up the motivation! This project is slowly getting there, and I've all kinds of ideas for factions etc, for the period, floating around in my head ( including some more cultish ones based on Conan Doyle!.......but definitely for ...

Re: Donnybrook ECW

Cheers Mark! It literally was ...
