Re: Oxford Blues

Coat blue, hat grey or sort of black with black feathers I think they had a lobster pot aswell and back and Brest plate, the hat maybe worn when not in action? Belts buff with a gold edging, breeches buff with black boots buttons gold, red saddle cloth with gold edges

Hope this helps

Re: Standards for Regt de Dillon

I think they have the St George cross as they were originally part of the English army under James II I think, then they went with him into exile in France

Re: Standards for Regt de Dillon

Could it not be a Lt Colonels? In English regiments the colonels was usually a solid block colour and then Lt Colonels was St George and Major St George and some sort of pile wavy? I could be totally wrong though πŸ€”

Re: Late XVII c. Spanish tercios colour plates

Wow that's great

The 1700 walloon tercio the musketeer in the creamy, beige/brown coat, is that what the French were using in the 1680-90s?. As I've seen some paintings were the uniform is definitely not grey like you see in the 1700s

British WWII uniform

Hi what colour would best suit WWII British uniforms, I use vallejo paints, I see one called English uniform but it looks far to dark and as I use agrathax shade it would probably be even darker and just look a brown mess!

I'm using 20mm scale figures AB stunning miniatures

Re: artillery at Ramillies

Doesn't seem much when looking at it, I take it artillery was still not a big factor in a battle and was still down to vollies and cold steel?

Re: WSS Bavarians

Grenadiers code SS35-SS-40 bearskins under sub section WSS Infantry & Dutch

The British have their own section I think they look good pass for Bavarians

Re: WSS Bavarians

I'd go with the British as they have the gaitors over their stockings and the coat and sleeve have hoops/lace on buttons and use bearskin grenadiers for grenadiers think there under the generic WSS figures

Re: Dixon minis

That is true we are not all the same size, its probably just wargames miniature enthusiasts who must have every man the same hight and build same sized shoes and waists it's a good job we are not real military Commanders we would have no troops! πŸ˜‚
