Re: Huguenot Infantry in Ireland

Thanks for the update Barry.

Just finishing off my Williamites, so I was wondering whether to hang fire before starting on the Jacobites and wait for the book to come out.

Re: Skeffington`s Foot

Yeah, I think that's what I will go with.

The agony was around the fact that blue facings units tend to be royal regiments and would have the royal livery for the drummers. While this is a normal regiment with blue facings....

Skeffington`s Foot

Hi All, I am in the process of painting up Skeffington`s Foot for the campaign in Ireland. Half way through and just about to start the command group and hit the proverbial wall. So, the two ensigns I'll do in grey, with blue facings as per the OR, happy with that. The two field officers will be in ...

Re: Huguenot Infantry in Ireland

thanks Gents.

I guess we will never really no why, but I'll keep looking for a (never to be found) definitive answer.

Huguenot Infantry in Ireland

Now virtually all books on the Boyne and the war in Ireland rather gleefully refer to the Huguenot infantry at the Boyne being run down due to a lack of pikes. I'm happy with this, so many references can't all be wrong. What I don't understand is why? Surely as most of these troops (certainly the of...

Derry Irish Basing

Hoping to get a bit of a steer here. I've nearly finished the first, English, brigade for my Williamite army and I want the second brigade to be the three Derry Irish regiments of Baker's, Skeffington's and Walker's. I know that uniform information on them is virtually nonexistent, with the uniform ...

Re: Uniforms of The Nine Years War

Thanks for that Clarence. I seem to have a depressingly large number of those titles already... There are a couple that will be purchased very soon though... :D I've made a suggestion of one title to go one the list which is of relevance to our period. I've already spent a fair time searching...

Uniforms of The Nine Years War

Hi, First post, although I've spent a while lurking on the forum. Long time interest in the period from way back in the '80s with those Hallmark figures has lead to the usual set of uniform books/references that probably most of you have, the set of Sapherson's books, The Army of James II, those Mar...
