Re: Jean 1806 Question

Greetings... Most of my Napoleonic books are still in boxes after moving house, but a little googling shows that the Guard Chasseurs were not at Jena, and the 1st Hussars did serve as Napoleon's bodyguard that day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasseurs_à_Cheval_de_la_Garde_Impériale The regiment m...

Re: Louisiana civil war flags ?

The type of flag carried would probably depend a lot on both the year and theater of the war. Generic Google Search http://southernprideflagco.com/Replica.html I'm building a Louisiana brigade for the ANV in late 1862 and haven't found a lot of info to go on. The Ospreys on Louisiana state troops an...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Good luck in your searches. The Mark Allen articles are high quality. I just wish WI would sell individual back issue PDFs versus the bulk CDROMs they do (or did pre-Battlefront acquisition). I think the long-term move will be for most printed media to move to digital formats. It makes sense both in...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Bart, The fact that you "tagged onto" my request for Jim to send me a copy, however innocent, opened the discussion to others wishing copies, and by definition, altered the original premise to "distribution of multiple copies". My opinion only, but one I'm going to stand by. No fault or disrespect ...

Re: Follow-up to Question About Irish Regiments

Jim (and Gentlemen); We are now talking about uploading Duncan's copyrighted material to a hosting site where it can be accessed by multiple parties. I would not support this, at least not without written permission. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't have a problem with one friend sharing a copy with ...

Re: Good 28mm and 15mm systems?

If you're looking at GdB or something similar like RtE or BP, sure. Having everyone start out with a few units is the easiest way to understand the basic mechanics of the game. Most of these games put the player in the position of being a brigade or divisional commander, so while they probably work ...

Upload them to google docs and share them that way. Hint: I'd like to see that too. :-)

Re: Good 28mm and 15mm systems?

Now that you've decided on 28mm, many of the more popular rules sets can work with the same basing schemes, so you have the luxury of trying out different sets of rules to see which ones resonate with your club. Black Powder, RtE, General de Brigade among others all use compatible basing schemes and...

Re: Good 28mm and 15mm systems?

In that case, here is one good link to start with: http://www.deepfriedhappymice.com/html/rd_napoleonic.html Also, if you can stand the snark and pedantry that infests TMP, searching through the Napoleonic boards will often yield some good information as well. Use google to search their archives ver...

Re: Good 28mm and 15mm systems?

Most rules sets will work for either 15mm or 25/28mm scale. The real questions you and your group should decide on is what sort of game you want to play and how large you want your units of figures to be. Do you want to play a tactical game where each player commands a brigade or division? Or are yo...

Re: UNITED STATES GAMERS

It's not overly close, but I live outside of Saint Paul, MN and am starting to move into 28mm Napoleonics. I've attended Rock Con in the past so am familiar with the area.

Any other interested parties in the upper Midwest?

Re: CAN NOW BE PRE ORDERED

I received my copy of BLB2 in the post last night and after flipping through it last night all I can say is well done! The production values are superb. One of my first wargaming projects was Marlburian Danes in 15mm 20+years ago and I have been thinking about redoing them in 28mm. Whether I start g...

Question about painting Perry plastic cavalry

Greetings all, After a lost summer hobby-wise I'm getting back into the swing of things and am getting ready to paint up two boxes of the Perry plastic French dragoons. They look like excellent figures and I will enjoy painting them up. Quick question for those folks that have already painted some o...

Given that L'artillerie de marine supplied units to the Grande Armée over a number of campaigns (most notably 1813 and 1814) it might be logical to assume that they were supplied with army uniforms. It would appear that they fought as both artillery and infantry (one French commander stated during ...
