Re: Tricorne hat and coat style?

The Warfare Grand Alliance line is fine for either side. If you are a real purist, you might do some head swaps with Swedes in karpus, still using the Grand Alliance bodies.

Le Roi Soleil Back Online

My personal apologies for the LRS site being down for so long. I will not bore you with the details. We are now back up and running; however, the site is now found at leroisoleilminiatures.co. It is no longer at ".com." For some reason it is not showing up on google searches so the best way to reach...

Re: Spanish troops during the War of the Spanish Succession

By this time, Spain had fallen on hard times financially and was having difficulty maintaining the Army of Flanders. Much of the infantry was understrength, poorly clothed and under equipped. Having siad this, the Spanish cavalry apparently fought very well at Fleurus. From the few OBs that I have s...

Re: Which faction will YOU do?

I have just about commpleted a small unit of Swedish infantry for Snapphane type warfare in the Scanian War. I just need to find some suitable figures for Snapphane guerillas. Any opinions on using some of the Empress miniatures ECW musketeers without rests?

Thanks.

Re: Dutch "Garde te Voet" late 17th C painted

Well done. Prior to the inception of Warfare Miniatures, I was a big fan of Dixon and still won't say anything bad about them. With the caveat that I am one of those fanatics about uniform height for figures and this is simply personal preference as I have seen terrific units with varying manufactur...

Le Roi Soleil Miniatures

For those of you who have not read the LRS news page, clan Miller has been stricken with illness from its head, yours truly, down to and including the faithful hound (actually an Old English Sheepdog, Bristol Daisy Doo a.k.a. Lulu) which has delayed shipment of figure orders placed this week. I am n...

Article on Narva

Military Heritage Magazine has a nice article on the battle of Narva in its November, 2013 issue. Unfortunately, it is copyrighted so I cannot reproduce it here.

Re: Just starting LOA

With respect to the cuirass for Dutch horse, Robert Hall and Iain Stanford note that it was in use until 1687 after which it gradually fell into disuse(?) before being reintroduced in the early 1700s. My interpretation of this is to have a mix of cuirass and non-cuirass horse regiments with a few re...
