Re: 1612 uniforms

Just looked around the web and the consensus seems to be that most, if not all, French infantry wore the pre-Bardin uniform in Russia. Some suggest that many units did not wear the Bardin uniform even in 1813. So for the "Grande Armee" (1812) should be better the "pre-1812" miniatures? Yes, "pre-18...

Ronan the Librarian wrote:British/KGL flag staffs were plain, dark wood.

French eagle staffs were all dark blue, I think.
Thank you.

Re: 1612 uniforms

The significance of 1812 in terms of French uniforms, is that it was the year that the Bardin reforms were announced. However, it seems that it took a long time for the new uniforms to be introduced and some/many/all (?) of the units involved in the invasion of Russia had the older style. Hopefully...

1612 uniforms

Hello we arose a doubt about the allocation made by Front Rank of his series of beautiful napoleonic miniatures, divided into two periods: 1. - "Pre 1812" 2. - "Post 1812" But for the "1812"? Where does? Those with "Pre" or those with "Post"? Wanting to make a wargame army representing the "Grand Ar...

The flag of Fusiliers-Chasseurs at Waterloo - question

Hello, please, someone would know tell me which flag might have had at Waterloo the 3rd Regiment of Chasseurs of the Old Guard, who previously was named "Regiment of Fusiliers-Chasseurs" of the Middle Guard? In this image found on the site of the Front Rank (page Gallery - French) the Fusiliers-Chas...

Re: battery of guns and howitzers

If you are using Republic to Empire then Barry had changed the damage system for artillery receiving fire as we found they were too resilient under the core rules. Depending on the type of incoming fire the damage can vary. I'm not sure where Barry has posted the updated rules? Cheers Dave We are u...

Re: battery of guns and howitzers

The surviving gun carriages I've seen from that era look pretty robust. I'm not sure even massed musketry would do much more than chip the paintwork and I can imagine even bronze barrels suffering noticeable damage. However, ricochets might increase the risk to the crew to a degree. To follow up on...

Re: battery of guns and howitzers

Sergio, I think in all of your examples, the overwhelming types of damage would be death or wounds to the crew/horses, and smashing/splintering of the wooden parts of the gun/limber. A direct hit from a ball might dismount the barrel, especially if it came from a flank, and this could snap off one ...

Re: A problem about a 18th Century Wagon

Hi, Belg. I have glued the cart shafts under the bars on the side of the horse, my reasoning being that this represents some harness fitting hooking to the shafts of the wagon. I then have glued thick thread from the bar on the second horse, back to the ones on the first to represent tandem harness...

A problem about a 18th Century Wagon

Hello, in case any of you have a picture of this model Front Rank assembled with one horse? In case, you may post it here? http://www.frontrank.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/1998.jpg http://www.frontrank.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/455.jpg I have some difficulty as to where I should to paste the...

Re: battery of guns and howitzers

To complete the above question:

1) Instead a gun (or an howitzer) it could be damaged or destroyed by a gun's hit (full ball) or by a grenade that exploded right over it?

2) And a grapeshot volley could hurt a gun (or an howitzer) to make it unusable?

Many thanks

Cheers

Re: battery of guns and howitzers

I suppose some bullets might break some spokes on the guns wheels and limit mobility but generally I can see bullets damaging the gun barrels. Apart from killing or wounding gun crews they can also take down the horses pulling the limbers and caissons. Cheers Dave Hi, Obriendavid, many thanks. Chee...
