Re: Swedish Officers wearing karpus hats?

In which case Ill probably be using this type just this one time, and keep using tricorn officers for the rest. I also have a karpus wearing cavalry officer with a feather in it. Have to leave that to the imagination I suppose.

Re: Swedish Officers wearing karpus hats?

I agree I read that many Karpus wearing regiments were keen to move to tricorne despite the Karpus being more pragmatic as socially Tricornes were worn by "gentlemen" with this in mind I would very much doubt officers would wear Karpus, are you sure its not an NCO? The manufacturer I got it from la...

Swedish Officers wearing karpus hats?

One of my 15mm Swedish officers has a karpus. Was wondering whether this is historically accurate or was the karpus only used by NCOs and regulars?

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

I assume that cossacks count as light/dragoon cavalry for both sides. At the moment I am at least considering building the number of units based on the regiments and squadrons Charles had during the Russian campaign up to Poltava and any other generic battles. The number of flag decals available cou...

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

Seems I can get away with using infantry with tricorns as grenadiers. Is there any further suggestions for the number of cavalry units (curassiers, dragoons). The swedes have more cav than infantry but how much of each roughly? Same for the Russians? When I began planning for this I was thinking of ...

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

What about grenadier companies for both sides. As far as I have found out, apart from the Livgarde regiment there were no separate Swedish grenadier companies. I have even heard that some grenadiers didn't even wear mitres. Also Russian companies had both infantry and cavalry grenadiers. Would these...

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

In the case of the Poles as allies for the Swedes would their mounted cavalry likely be Pancerni or Dragoons? Is it too improbable that some of them would be Winged Hussars? Since I will be focusing on the Swedish army for this project, I have wanted to know what artillery was being fielded. I under...

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

Thanks, would this also count for allied units for both sides (cossaks, poles).

Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

Currently planning on a collaboration project for building a Swedish and a Russian Great Northern War army in 15mm. Is there any recommendations for the composition of units (e.g number of cavalry etc) for a generic army on both sides. From what I have gathered the Swedes were usually outnumbered bu...

Michiel Du Ruyter Movie (anyone seen this?)

Anyone see that Dutch move from 2015 about Du Ruyter (Admiral:Command and Conquer). While I enjoyed it I can clearly see some inaccuracies (mostly due to the time frame of events(even more obvious to the fact that Du Ruyter's children do not seem to grow into adults over the span of a couple of deca...

Re: Waist Sashes for French Pikeman (First post)

Thanks, I suppose its just speculation about the definitive colour schemes during the early modernisation of European armies.

Waist Sashes for French Pikeman (First post)

Just recently acquired some Northstar 1672 figures following a unit deal offer. I've got some dutch pikeman (http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=4059) as they were the only unarmoured pikeman they were doing in the deals. While I want some flexibility in representation different nations wi...
