Re: Swedish ratings in BLB v3

I would list the Life Regiment of Horse as Veteran Elite. The Drabants would be Guards. The Life Regiment of Dragoons would be Veteran Elite. The Foot Guards would be Veteran Elite, with the Grenadiers as Guards. But that’s just me.

Re: A few questions on BLB3

I am starting a Scanian War Project with Pendraken figures. I am using 30mm square bases for infantry and cavalry. Two ranks of four infantry, with the occasional additional officer and/or musician per base. Three figures per base for cavalry. The Pendraken figures are great. They look like “miniatu...

Re: How to represent Russian Horse Grenadiers

Let me throw something in here. Tacitus has a link to a Russian study of uniforms based on extant regimental records. I don’t have the link before me but I google translated it several years ago and here is what it says about the grenadier dragoon regiments: The study shows clothing and equipment th...

Re: How to represent Russian Horse Grenadiers

The chart in the Russian article seems to come from Angus Konstam’s Book originally published by Osprey. No sayinging it’s wrong, just wonder if Truls has found another source. Barry informs me that my dragoons will ship tomorrow. Yay!

Re: How to represent Russian Horse Grenadiers

Truls,

Where did you get your uniform colors for the grenadier companies that made up No. 40?

Re: 5 new Russian cavalry codes in the shop today

Friederich Augustus,

Where did you get your info on which regiments the grenadiers came from to form the permanent ones? I'm not questioning its accuracy, but I'm always look for GNW sources.

Thanks

Dannie

Re: Why not take St. Petersburg?

It might be a good question to ask why he did not attempt to recapture this area, city or no city, since it was formerly ruled by Sweden? I haven’t looked this up, but my guess is that he felt that this would not defeat the Russians and they could continue to fight. If, however, he was able to defea...

Re: Balanced army sizes for GNW Swedish and Russian armies

A few comments. The Swedish horse regiments were supposed to be issued with cuirasses but quite often did not wear them. Whether armored or not, they were more than equal to the Saxon and Danish cuirassiers. Indeed, the Swedish dragoons easily took on the Saxon cuirassiers. The dragoons at Fraustadt...

I believe that is correct. The theory being that infantry didn't pay much attention to what their own cavalry was doing, since cavalry was always running around.

Re: Quick Question on Orders

In other words, if you have a brigade of four units and you want them all to start moving, you will need expend four orders, but only need to put down one order chit.

Re: New Book on Battle od Helsingborg (nicht Danish)

A true story: I was riding on à train from Lund to Copenhagen a couple of years ago. A Norwegian student was talking to a Danish student (in English, of course!) and one of them said, "No one can understand the skånske." The other agreed whole-heartedly. Maybe that was the Danish commanders problem!
