I think that the refence may be to the French grenadiers in Bavarian service commanded by de la Colonie at the Schellenberg.

This collection of Swedish soldiers diaries, letters and other documents was collected in the early 1900s and runs to 12 volumes. It is in Swedish and to make matters more difficult for non-Swedish speakers the spelling is somewhat archaic, but it is a major primary source for historians of the GNW....

No doubt they had drummers, but Barry asks a good question. Where were the drummers when the actual fighting began? It seems that a drum would be pretty useless in a charge and would be an actual impediment to a man attempting to use his sword. Perhaps they stayed behind the squadron. Kettle drummer...

For the gentlemen's regiments they were probably usually in the livery colors of the colonel-proprietor with the colonel's coat of arms. The Royal regiments probably had banners that were like their standards.
