Re: The thorny subject of GUARDS

I'm kind of fuzzy on this but in R2E I recall there was a classification for troops that were better motivated than trained, who had a certain elan . I don't have BLB yet and don't know whether there is a classification for similarly motivated troops in it. But it seems like there might be room for ...

Re: Front rank 18th century cannon

You might ring up Elite and see if they will sell artillery wheels separately. They make some SYW era cannon and if they are like their napoleonic cannon, the wheels are quite tall.

Re: New Marlburian range from Foundry

Hopefully they are nice. And hopefully they will have done pikemen for the Brits.

Nicely done. Looks like overpainting the buttonhole lace on the troopers worked out ok.

Re: My new WSS blog

Why the heart failure for Franco-Prussian from Front Rank? Just curious as to why not? I can't speak for Ben of course. I don't want him to do it mainly because it will distract his time from WSS. If he does a few more things for WSS then he can fire away as far as I care. But I would prefer him to...

I'll drop him a note. I had asked about them in the past. Do you know whether he has good reference material for them already?

when did tricorn become normal?

What sort of evidence is there for the date at which it became normal to wear a tricorn in the British army? (I'd also like to know for the French army but let's keep it simple). And was its use led by one branch of the service or what? For example, did cavalrymen set the fashion that the foot follo...

I do not know Spencer, but I wish him the best.

Is there a thread somewhere that talks about the extent of what will be in the range? I'd very much like to see some distinctively Spanish looking units based on the drawings in the Boeri volume on the Spanish army.

sparre's hose

Robert Hall depicts these as black after L&H. That caused me to raise my eyebrows. The regiment was raised originally from Swedes and they return the blue with yellow coat. So I'm trying to determine what color to paint the hose. In this period did the Swedes wear yellow or white hose? I see my choi...

Hanoverians at Ramillies

I'm starting to plan to paint up this contingent. It's a nice sized contingent - 6 battalions of foot and just a few squadrons of cavalry. I'll have a few questions along the way but I'd like to start out by seeking info on flags. I have the Goldberg volume and it contains some flags from Neerwinden...
