Re: Help Needed On A Couple Of Irish Regiments

Bill Its a strange one this. In that only the regular 5 are shown following the French system of quartered colours (red and facing colour) around the red cross. The 3 Irish units within the Spanish army of Philip V (Regiments of Irlanda, Ultonia and Hibernia) are thought to have carried white colone...

Re: 28mm unit sizes for WSS

Nick We in the group follow the old tradition of 16 man foot units having been weaned on the period at the old Wargames Holiday Centre and the Gilder/Ingham rules. Our Imperial Austrian foot units are of 5 bases and as we appear to be turning our attention North and Eastwards (watch this space!) so ...

Sedgemoor 1685 demo game Partizan Sunday 4 Sept 2011

Hi al Just a reminder to those going. The 'Like a stone wall' Wargames Group will be showing Sedgemoor 1685 in 28mm at the Partizan show next Sunday. The game will feature new terrain including some rather tasty models of the churches at Weston Zoyland and Chedzoy made by Nick 'The Mole' Buxey himse...

Re: Sneak peek at some new sculpts

Please, do NOT sculpt a lance or pole for any standards. Those are always too weak and are easily broken. A supplied pole as Front Rank does would be fine. Absolutely right. The days of cast lances are well gone. May I please also suggest that the 'open' hand for the standard be in fact 'closed' an...

Re: Clanrickarde Regiment

Hi Andy, Sounds like you will be going identically with the Bourke standards as we did. I have some more pics that may be of use to you and show Ulick Bourke's (Viscount Galway) brigade at Aughrim. In addition to the two smaller detachments of Walter Bourke (they are traditionally accorded the disti...

Re: Clanrickarde Regiment

Clarence and Andy, May be too late if you have started to paint up. However suggest you each check out the pictures 'Churchill' (Ray) uploaded from the 'Like a stone wall' group Boyne game demonstrated at the Worlds in 2009. The post is on p4 currently as listed today. In the initial set of pics tak...

Re: New Marlburian range from Foundry

Probaly saving them for later in the year when they'll put the prices up Gents, Whilst that may be true, from what I saw they are without doubt the best sculptures for the Marlburian period I have seen to date. These have some real animation to them. Be prepared to be amazed is all I can say guys. ...

New Marlburian range from Foundry

Hi all I was in the Foundry last week and noticed a recent addition within their display cabinets. They had about two dozen painted examples of their new Marlburian range including many very nice Gardes Francais, British Horse including command and some general purpose wounded figures. I understand ...

Re: Tumbleweed blows through Kelham

Hi all I wondered how this show might go down. I got a call from a group colleague on the Sunday morning to see if we were going -if only for a pint and a social. Off we toddled the 20 miles but were amazed at what we found. As we had been at the Sheffield show the previous weekend with our demo gam...

Hi Conflans, I will be there along with the 'Like a stone wall' wargames group. No WSS/NYW though. We are demonstrating Antietam from the ACW. This is a game we have had on hold since 911 and was due to be show at the Worlds that year. The events of a month earlier had us a rethink and we rapidly th...
