Oh we deff had fun. Interesting to note, the ferrying of war booty across the Shannon, poor die rolls and you're not gonna get much across. One turn to load, D3 to cross, one turn to unload, D3 to cross, thats potentially 8 turns in a 10 turn game for 1 piece. I rolled surprisingly well untill the e...

Just this one missed of my original questions

Do infantry charging infantry who receive shooting casualties from the target unit do they then need to test again to charge home, like cavalry do?

From my readings of the various rules queries on the forum the answer appears to be; Infantry can never charge cavalry (it is a charge test to join an ongoing melee) in anyway join ongoing melee against cavalry. Only the unit being charged can fire. Since all charge moves and defensive fire is befor...

The advantage to charging vs not is you kill on a 5 and 6. Taking the charge at the halt or not going far enough you only kill on a 6. The reference to killing on 4-5 and 6 (vs cavalry) is only to represent certain nationalities cavalry being better during the dates given. If you aren't playing that...

We use casualty sheets to track losses for each unit. We have decided not to remove stands until the unit ceases to exsist.

Thanks Ray,

We finished the last two turns tonight. We called it a draw though the Jacobites did manage to get 50% booty across the river, the Williamites were to the wood line. My cavalry was routed in every combat they fought and against raw troops.

First game

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2436/3986707575_878b8515c4.jpg From our first game last night. Playing the first scenario in the book, this is the end of turn 8 from the Williamite view. In the background you see the guns and wagons being loaded supervised by General Liam Malone. In the woods the Ja...

To be clear

First game and some questions. Infantry cannot reinforce an ongoing melee against horse? (unless tribal) No matter the direction the infantry attempt to make contact. (flank/rear) Found it, Infantry can never charge cavalry no matter what. Cavalry who attempt to reign-in a charge and pass move how f...

Have fun! Get some good photos of the Boyne game. I would love to be there and I really miss the conventions over there. I will always cherish the years i lived in Europe. I'm jealous :)

I too have had this mental debate with myself, to re base or not to re base. I have 12 man battalions so if i re based would only have 2 stand battalions per the rules. Unacceptable and I can't throw a tonne of money out trying to fatten them up. All my 28mm figures are from this period but all are ...

Newbie welcome

Hi all, just ordered these rules and looking forward to trying them out. I am slowly building my Williamite, Jacobite and WSS forces. Always looking for more painted figures (28mm), my eyes and time dont allow for painting much anymore. Eventually would like to do a battle of the Boyne game. Anyway ...
