Re: Brandenburg Uniform Questoin (battle of the boyne)

My guess is that no one is sure whether the Brandenberg Regiment wore white or blue stockings. Many contempary references to unform colors merely state the coat color and the lining or cuff color. Don't know if this is the case with the original info on Brandenburg. It is the next regiment I am goin...

Re: Dutch/belgian

I have Perrys based on the Dutch at Quatre Bras. As you say, they are complete. Personally, I like their style better than FR, but that is a matter of taste. I would not worry about the fact they are sole in packs. You should be able to use all of the figures. Yes, you probably want to have flank co...

Re: New ebor WSS mounted officer and dolly size comparison

I hope no one took any of my comments as a quibble with FR. I have hundreds of FR WSS. Just pointing out that it would in fact be appropriate to arm the horse with carbines and dragoons with musketoons.

Re: New ebor WSS mounted officer and dolly size comparison

According to Anthony Kemp's "Weapons & Equipment of the Marlborough Wars" by 1700 the horse in all countries had carbines and the dragoons had shortened full bore muskets. According to him the name came from "dragon," a shortened musket. I don't have my sources with me, but I seem to recall reading ...

Yar68. Sorry, I didn't read post on your blog very carefully. As far as the green coats are concerned, no need to duck! I certainly have no problem with it, and I doubt many others to either.

Re: Danish regt Prince George, free flags

Pretty sure these won't work for Prins Georg in the 1690s. If you can get to Dan Schorr's Northern Wars website through the "Wayback Machine" and look at the flags for PG the Scanian War that may be more accurate. The orange flag you show has the English coat of arms. That might be proper after Prin...

Re: New ebor WSS mounted officer and dolly size comparison

One thing I would suggest is that you do musketeers with cockades on their tricornes. The English did not have them, but many if not most of the German allies did.

Prussian musketeers wore tricornes. This Knotel print may help.

Most pictures depict the sword belt worn under the coat.

Re: Danish uniforms - who to believe?

This is kind of bringing a thread back from the dead, but i was looking though my Danish materials and came up with the following thoughts about the Danish uniforms in Ireland, so I thought I would share them, FWIW. Here is what I have been able to gather on the subject. If anyone has anything more ...

Re: Robert Hall plates for the period

"Green does sometimes fade to dark blue." That is correct. In the Hessian army museum I saw a mounted chasseur officer's coat that was originally dark green, but faded to dark blue. The reason is that the green color was achieved by mixing blue and yellow threads. Yellow fades much more quickly than...

Re: 2nd wave

Any news would be appreciated. I plan to order a few more battalions in a couple of weeks, but would like to buy some of the "additional" infantry pack to add variety. If it's going to be a while, I will go ahead and order, but I would hate to do so and then have the second wave come out a couple of...
