Re: Small action rules from Clarence and Barry

I like the idea of a skirmish set for the period. I've been on a skirmish kick for quite a while now, and it will absolutely help folks who don't have the resources to raise even the modest-sized armies of the period. A BLB sized regiment would be a company or a troop, so all anybody would really ne...

Figure comparisons

Digging through the pile of old lead, I found two 12/14 figure battalions of 25mm Imperialist Miniatures British - well loved, but in desperate need of updating. How well do other figure ranges mix with Imperialist? I was thinking of purchasing some additional command figures (preferably ones with c...

Re: cavalry standards release date.

Do you know if Villiers' Regiment of Horse kept the same standards when they became Leveson's in 1694 and then Harvey's in 1699?

Because the Queen's Bays fought in Spain and not Germany/Flanders, I am short of information at the moment.

Re: Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in the Peninsula

With "Catalan Museum", I presume you mean the national catalan museum of art? No. I mean the Museu Virtual de al Guerra de Succesio , which is a collaboration of Bosch Gimpera Foundation and the DIDPATRI Research Unit, both belonging to Barcelona University. It has some excellent uniform plates (ma...

Re: British blue

Theoretically, British blues were darker, with the blue used on royal regiments and light cavalry supposed to be almost black. With that said, it all depends on the cloth they got from the contractor, how well the dyes held up, how recently the unit had been equipped and how hard weather and service...

Royal Regiment of Fusiliers in the Peninsula

Does anybody have information on the Flags of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers circa 1710 when they were in the Peninsula?

Thanks to the Catalan Museum, I have great uniform details, but nothing on flags. Most of my flag sources have struck out.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Identifying raw status regiments in the WSS

Wouldn't another way to consider that is when the regiment was last recruited, and how much had to be replaced?

A regiment that is much cut up, even if restored to strength, is not like to be the same for a while, especially if it lost heavily in officers and NCOs.

Re: Hay's Dragoon's @ Blenheim

Rob, that's actual campaign establishment that marched from Flanders to the Danube. They fought dismounted at both the Schellenberg and in support of the allied foot in the final stages of the action surrounding Blenheim village. Casualties received at Schellenberg - 1 Officer & 7 Troopers killed, ...

Re: Hay's Dragoon's @ Blenheim

Is that book strength, or is it an actual head count close to the day of battle? Similarly, where was the 2nd Squadron of the Regiment? Did it not exist, or was it on detached service somewhere? My inclination would be to paint up a second squadron. That way, you've got the whole regiment at "book" ...

Re: Foundry have finally woken up

Does this mean we can expect price decreases across the board as well?

When you pay the same for 6 Foundry that you do for 10 Copplestone, or half the price for the same number when buying Perry or Artizan, then there's a serious disincentive to purchase Foundry anywhere but ebay.
