I like pre shading but tend to forget to do it myself & work up from white with thick washes of the mid tone which tends to give similar results. No not at all but I do have some pet irritants with painting two of which I mentioned in the last post. I will also add that for me was actually quite subtle & not a personal attack. 8)

Exactly & most of the time there is no definitive information to tell exactly which way such things where done at any given point so you pay's your money and takes your choice. Theoretically the lining of the coat would be the same colour as the turn backs of the cuffs & the waistcoat was often made form the lining of the previous coat worn lining side out. However there is nothing to stop the lining being the same colour as the coat especially if it was a cheaper material...

Probably too small to be visible at 25/28mm scale any way. However grubby & more than a little tatty around the edges would be well in keeping.
