Re: Prussian Army WSS

This is turning into a beautifully painted army. Well done. Very nice to see someone paint this army up - my understanding is that they fought like tigers and made their reputation, particularly in the Italian theatre.

Looking forward to seeing more,

WMMS Alumwell 2017 - Siege of Athlone

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the chap who put on the Siege of Athlone game on Sunday at the Alumwell show. A very impressive game that must have taken an age to create. Included some beautifully painted figures. I was particularly pleased to spot some of the Danish Battalions as I am curren...

Simply stunning. The incredible detail and wonderful colours.

But, its only when you reach the last but one photo that you realise the scale of this project.

Re: Louis XIV's 'Model Towns'...

Definitely - might have to use 1mm figures and be suspended over the table in some form of mobile hammock but it would be worth it !

Re: The Glorious revolution on BBC Four

Very interesting episode with quite a significant part looking at the impact of these events in later years. Its always going to be relatively superficial given the short time available but I think she tried to maintain a balanced view. I always appreciate Lucy's efforts to bring history alive in a ...

Louis XIV's 'Model Towns'...

You might be interested in having a squint at Episode 1 of the BBC series 'Art of France' as it includes a short but interesting view of the 144 model towns made for Louis XIV : http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08cgjv7/art-of-france-series-1-1-plus-ca-change The section on the model towns start...

Danish Regiments : Colours per Battalion

I would be grateful if someone could clarify the system of issuing Colours for Danish Regiments in the WSS. I am about to embark on a project to paint a lot of Danish Battalions in 10mm and would like to get my head round this if possible ! I have looked at all the sources I have (the excellent GNW ...

Re: First GNW game

The figures look simply stunning - a lot of work clearly went into this. I particularly like the effect of the 'animated' flags.

Just one slightly negative comment - so much effort has gone into the figures but it is let down a little by the terrain. Your figures deserve better !

Re: Scandanavia 1655-1680?

I have a some information on the Danish army of 1675-79 if that might be helpful (the booklet "Danish Uniforms, Colours & Standards 1675-1679" by Olaf Hasselager and Torstein Snorrason).

Email me at phil(hyphen)carrington(at)virginmedia(dot)com if you are interested.
