Re: New project Landen 1693

Hi all Slow progress at the moment, but I have some more pics up on my blog, charting the progress of d'Humieres' Regiment. This time, it's the drummer, more of the pikemen, and the Drapeaux d'Ordonnance . Just keep painting, just keep painting........ Best wishes Andy http://haveacare.blogspot.co.uk/

OOB for French Forces at Landen/Neerwinden?

Hi all Mark Allen lists the following French Infantry Regiments for the Landen (Neerwinden) campaign, and I just wondered what people thought of this? :? In my attempts at creating some brigades for my BtLB forces, I'd like to try and keep 'accurate' (maybe 6 battalions of infantry for now.) I've al...

Re: Regiment d'Humieres

Thanks Arthur I'll summarise all the info you've provided, and when the regiment is complete, I'll post it up on my blog. Greatly appreciated! :D Unfortunately, my Osprey Chartrand is mis-placed at the minute - somewhere in storage at my parents' house I think. The Hall Plates I'm curious abou...

Re: Regiment d'Humieres

Arthur This is simply wonderful!! Thank you so much - just a brief reading of this is so helpful, and I'm sure that when I've had time to digest it properly it will mean so much more - I was more excited about replying to say a big thank you!! Now I'll go back to it and read it properly. :D Certainl...

Regiment d'Humieres

Hi all Firstly, a massive thanks for all the assistance in recent days over colours, cravates , tassels etc of the French forces. All greatly appreciated!! My next query is about Regiment d'Humieres in 1693. Over the last couple of years I've followed Giles Allison's blog 'Tarleton's Quarter'...

Re: French Flags - tassels and Cravats in 1693?

Thanks for all the info chaps - fascinating stuff! I think I'll stick with the white cravate for the regiment I'm doing (d'Humiere's) unless anybody knows differently. I'll try and add one to the Colonel's colour as well - at the minute I've only painted up the Ordonnance colour. I'm tempted to do t...

Re: French Flags - tassels and Cravats in 1693?

Classic!!! Saw this after putting some rather natty tassels on the flag out of wire and green stuff!!!! It was a nice piece of work as well........... :? Thanks for any replies chaps, and having read this - I've come up with a plan.... So the Greenstuff cravat will stay on the flag, as will ...

Re: French Flags - tassels and Cravats in 1693?

Think I've just found the answer - knew it would be on here with a bit of searching..... So white flags implicitly came to mark the presence of royal authority wherever they were flown - which is why the colonel's standard was white in both infantry and cavalry units as white suggested that t...

French Flags - tassels and Cravats in 1693?

Hi all - as the title says, just a query on French flags in the W of the GA. I was wondering what colour the finials for the flags would be - gold or silver? and if they had tassles ( sp? ) :? or not? and if so what colour would these be? I've had a quick flick through BTLB and other pics, and it se...

Mark Allen articles from Wargames Illustrated

Hi all Right, things are moving!! In the process of following up my query about flags in the 1690s for English regiments, I finally 'did it', and popped over to Wargames Illustrated in Nottingham, and picked up a copy of the Mark Allen articles CD from WI, that had been discussed on here and TMP a f...

Re: Colours for Regiments 1693 ish!

Thanks Dave for pointing me to Clarence's flags - not thought of that one! Only thing is, I'll have to get my head round which regiment was which, for Landen (Neerwinden), and have a proper loook. My impression from Wikipedia, is that the following regiments were there: 1st Foot Gds, 2nd Foot Guards...
