Re: Landsknecht

Hey, Friedrich! Long time no see. What exactly is Gewalthaufen? The wikipedia article is only in german and Finnish. Neither is of much use to me. Yeah, it was far too long for my liking. The term Gewalthaufen or Gevierthaufen runs together with formations that the Swiss used. https://en.wikipedia....

Re: With Talon and Claw

Barry actual answered me as he seems to have read my entry here or the BLOG. The Postal Service has degenerated over the last 20 Years, seriously. The directors increased their salary by a factor of 2 or 3 while, and, at the same time, reducing the numbers of the Postmen on the street by half. So, m...

Re: basing napoleonic french imperial guard

Basing is never a Problem with RtE-Rules. My Saxons are, on Paper, 4 Companies of 210men each. For astethic reasons and and to show some Campaign Consumption I made them on 6 Bases of 6 figures each. You may still use them if they are at 800+ strength, just take notes and there you go. Saxon Leib-Gr...

Re: Did generals have uniforms?

Danni, you know that many Painters weren't even there  but anyway it is a source nevertheless. The other way to think of the General Uniform is that most if not all of them owned/raised Foot or Horse Regiments so they wore their Regiments Uniform as their "Colonel". This Practice goes back to ...

Re: 28mm Tercio de Burgos, the "Old Yellows"

Two Questions have occurred to me: The first one: While starting to paint a unit of Saxon I go to try Burnt Umbra as Primer which I noticed to work quite well with red - maybe with yellow too? Second: The length of your Pikes... are those the 10cm long ones provided by Northstar or did you cut them ...

Re: TYW Cavalry

Just a side Note for the "blackened armor": Only in the early stages of the TYW such armor was common. Mostly for Live-Guard Squadrons. Blackened Armor was too expensive to be used in greater numbers so most units, Foot and Horse, had only polished Iron Body Armor. Besides of Commanders, Officers an...
