Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

The officer's probably saying "they couldn't hit a barn door from over the..." His men are probably hoping he's pointing out a well stocked distant tavern. But knowing my die rolling (woeful reputation reinforced at the weekend) you're probably right. Best have a replacement handy... http://i1359.p...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

Another officer joins the ranks (or is that comes up from the ranks?). http://i1359.photobucket.com/albums/q788/ColinNapier/command_zps1395bda2.jpg And the last regiment of foot, La Meloniere's, are finally underway. http://i1359.photobucket.com/albums/q788/ColinNapier/917ce384-249d-4041-8b66-342604...

Re: OCTOBER MUSTER 2013 - DERBY

I know Colin has some Huguenots he likes to get killed Two and a half battalions of foot ready to go (should be 3 by October)... and plenty of brigadiers (somebody suggested I might need them, ok many people, ok everybody). At the risk of copying some people's 'accelerated promotion' schemes Happy ...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

The second regiment of foot, La Caillemotte's. Beyond the grey coats the uniform is pretty much made up, there are few secondary or primary sources on what was worn. The officer I realise should probably not be in red, to myself I'm making the excuse that Massue de La Caillemotte was killed leading ...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

After a break due to a couple of new projects demanding attention... some more Huguenots finished off, this time combined grenadiers which will form some commanded shot (or a section for Donnybrook perhaps). http://i1359.photobucket.com/albums/q788/ColinNapier/P1010500_zps02929ff7.jpg http://i1359.p...

Re: The raising of the Saxon Army 1699-1712

Great looking battery, Günter. Looking at my paltry (as yet unpainted) single Huguenot cannon, I think I'm suffering a bit of 'lead envy' :D

Good to hear the plans for the Saxon invasion of England this October are advancing well.

Re: Resurrection of 1 day gaming

I'd be interested in anything in Lanarkshire and Dumfries isn't that far for me (provided I can get a day pass :D ).

Cheers,

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

I read somewhere that God is not on the side of the big battalions but that of the commanded shot. So I thought I'd better have some of those. This chap is to be in charge (temporarily at least). http://i1359.photobucket.com/albums/q788/ColinNapier/CShot_zps8e41f4cc.jpg In my head he represents Capt...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

Gents, thanks for all the kind words and encouragement - I'm trying to quicken my pace - Derby here we come! (note the lack of date on that statement). Colin, if you get any more finished we'll have to reflag Toggy's brigade!!!! They might even change sides!!! You mean I can't have six Huguenot regi...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

Very nice Colin, you'll have to request some more officer casualties & the possibility of a burial party from the " Big Cheese" at warfare minis h.q. Bob Burial party is a great idea... I think Perry do some nice grave stones too :D it is funny to see that you still have this morbid habit to paint ...

Re: Huguenots in Ireland 1690

After a long hiatus finished the latest command stand for the Huguenots. Alas this is a common scenario for units under my command; the brigadier lies dead and his replacement (a mere corporal at sunrise) has decided he'd better make a quick will before the next turn comes round... http://i1359.phot...
