Re: On Croats and their ilk....

Bumping this I know....but we had a game last night where we used the amedments to good effect. Pappenhiem's Croat's lurked around the flank of my Swedish horse. Some mounted skimishing between the units occurred and one Croat unit was driven off. Can someone tell me - did the Swedes have anything s...

Re: Hat hard Plastic 28mm

Nice enough anatomically more proportioned sculpts with the associated problems of painting plastic. (Wash them in detergent first and dry them off to remove the grease residue from the mould). I have the Prussians and in terms of scale they are smaller than most metal ranges. The detail is there, b...

Re: Clubmen and highlanders in VWQ?

Alford sounds interesting. Do let us know how you get on.

I've yet to play another game featuring highlanders, not enough folk in the Aberdeen club have them !

Thanks for the reply, We'll go ahead on that basis. Our very simple amends includes rules for Croats, the Tercio, and some other minor changes. We didn't really see the need to tinker with the rule mechanisms themselves as we don't believe the actual physical nature of movement, combat and morale wa...

On cuirassiers...

Hi, We had a TYW game using VWQ last night and it might have been rusty-ness or we might just be missing something but are Cuirassiers treated as Horse? By that I mean that although they get different melee dice and movement from other "cavalry" do they get the same melee mods? Apologies if I missed...

On Croats and their ilk....

Hi folks, Following Warlords release of the plastic TYW figures a few of us at my local club are about to make a foray into that period using VWQ. One type of unit we will be using will of course be Croats and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to represent these chaps on the ta...

We used Clarence's amendments at my local club to play the Battle of Inverkeithing, which featured a single unit of Highland Scots . I think they worked quite well and there was talk of them being adopted and used for other games such as Auldearn. As for unit size, then it would depend on how many w...

I'd second valleyboy here - If you're new to the wash/shading thing you could do a lot worse than pick up a couple of pots from GW. Personally I use the Devlan Mud as my wash as it tones skin, webbing, etc as well as shading the creases and lines on your figures and gives them a slightly weathered, ...

Further intelligence..... Whilst browing at lunchtime I came across this site which kind of answers my questions on how to model these formations on the table for the moment. I dont know if anyone's seen it before but I found it to be very well put together [/url]http://usuarios.multimania.es/ao1617...

Swedish Brigades and Spanish Tercios with VWQ

First of all Hi Folks, This is my first post but I've been a fan of the rules for some time now and have recently picked them up again for a few games. Although I have an ECW army I'm keen to use the rules for the TYW too, swapping command figs and standards to make my figures Swedes and their allie...
