Re: French 1672 - First Figures

Hi chaps, Just a quick post to let you see a couple of Officers I've finished (for the Plessis-Praslin Regiment). I've tried to be clever and add a silver border to the shoulder belt - this was a right pain again but has turned out OK. I like this guy but could you take him seriously on the battlefi...

Re: French Infantry Regiment 'Plessis-Praslin'

Arthur, Very many thanks for the information above - this is really appreciated. For uniforms and colours, it seems as though there is no information either way so I will just stick with grey faced blue and the Poitou flag (particularly as i have recently bought this from Barry !) If I ever come acr...

Re: part 2 of my space hulk The Maintenance Room

This project is absolutely magnificent. Well done. I know I shouldn't but I can almost picture terminators rumbling around, gunning down the aliens. Or, better still, Ripley looking for that damned cat (would you really try to find a mog on a doomed spaceship, inhabited by a killer alien ?? Sod that...

1670s Era Buildings

Hi chaps, While waiting for the next installment of cash (to allow the purchase of more 1672 Frenchies), I was thinking of work on some linear terrain and buildings suitable for the French invasion of Holland. Can anyone recommend a good web-based tutorial or suggest some ideas ? I have previously h...

Re: French 1672 - First Figures

Thank you very much for the kind words - always very much appreciated. Rob - I must admit that I'm buying individual packs from North Star as and when the cash bcomes available. This is one of the reasons it takes so long. When I bought the first battalion, the figures were discounted. Unfortunately...

Re: Another 1806 Prussian unit completed, plus WSS Bavarians

These are absolutely superb. I particularly like the faces of the Bavarians. Did they really wear such a bright blue ?

There are so many Prussians ! How do you maintain focus to complete this unit ? I find it hard enough painting 18 man Battalions.

Fantastic stuff.

Hi chaps, The Regiment de Crussol (or at least one of its Battalions) is finally complete and ready for your inspection. http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx254/glorfindel-666/Glory%20of%20the%20Sun/IMG_2122_zpsac43abbd.jpg The command base : http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx254/glorfindel-666/...

French Infantry Regiment 'Plessis-Praslin'

Hi chaps, I am just about to start work on a new French Infantry Regiment for my (slowly) growing army based on the 1672-78 Franco-Dutch War. This will be the Regiment de Plessis-Praslin which, according to Susane, became Regiment de Poitou in 1682. Osprey provides information for the standard troop...

Re: French 1672 - First Figures

Another quick update on Regiment de Crussol. (Deep breath). A close up pic of the second Ensign with an attempt at silver edging to the shoulder belt. A right pain in the jacksy to do but I'm pleased with the results. http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx254/glorfindel-666/Glory%20of%20the%20Sun/IMG...

Re: French 1672 - First Figures

Thank you very much. I'll have to admit that it's a little scary when you blow up pics of individual figures to ridiculous sizes - every millimetre of paint is exposed to a degree of scrutiny that just wouldn't happen on the table. Silly idea - unit pics only from now on... When the Battalion is com...

Re: French 1672 - First Figures

Dave / Gunter. Many thanks for the kind words. I'm sure others will agree that appreciation & encouragement from fellow gamers like this keeps you painting. It certainly seems to be working as I'm already half way through my next Battalion (Crussol). I can already see the sense in the comment in the...

French 1672 - First Figures

Hi chaps, I feel like putting the flags up - I've just finished my first 28mm figures in a long, long time and thought you might be interested in having a look : http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx254/glorfindel-666/Glory%20of%20the%20Sun/IMG_2099_zpsac9d9509.jpg Although this took me about three ...

French Infantry Lineage

Hi chaps, I have recently completed work on a large spreadsheet in Excel which lays out the lineage of all French Infantry Regiments starting in 1567 through to 1789 (including all Regiments disbanded during these years). For each regiment, the spreadsheet shows the year they were raised and all cha...
