Re: bonnet wearing infantery in ireland?? 1690s

Not sure about Ireland, but the Royal Regiment of Scots Dragoons (Grey Dragoons, later Scots Greys) wore Scots blue bonnets at least until 1685.

I know it's a bit early, but I'll be modelling mine in grey coats, blue bonnets and assorted horse colours...

Depending on location, you were safe as long as you didn't change the historical outcome!

Re: Jacobite?? Or not!

While I accept that the Dutch would have had severe difficulty in taking on the might of France, I would have thought that they could easily have crossed the Channel with an invasion force... I'm sure there would have been enough disaffected factions in England that there would have been some suppor...

Re: Jacobite?? Or not!

Re: Royal Scots - grenadiers?

As someone brought up in the Scottish West Coast traditions, it never failed to amaze me how many 'real Scots' celebrated the Battle of the Boyne, even though it was a defeat of the Scottis...

Re: Bonnie Dundee...

Thanks Ray, was aware of the Graham crest but wondered if he had a different crest as Viscount Dundee?

Will be printing off my Graham standard tomorrow... No need for a regimental colour as this will simply be a personal standard for Dundee as a Brigade commander.
