Re: Cadogan's Horse

If its any help Ray, I have gone for Green. Its a different shade of green to that which i intend to use for Woods horse so that I can tell them apart on the table. Why Green, well it looks nicer ! :D

Re: Here come the Cavalry.

Hi Ray,

Just noticed that all your trumpeters are riding grey horses. Is this a factual thing for the period or just something pleasing to the eye ?

Re: A WSS game from the Sunday Cake Club

That is the kind of battle I am aspiring to! Lovely collections on display. I like how the regts have the names against them, any chance that you can take some individual regt shots as they would be great to see some close ups ? The allies seemed heavily out numberd, was this balanced by troop class...

That flag looks perfect now Ray! Paul really is a talented bugger, lovely shading on it.

Re: Here come the Cavalry.

Hi Ray. I have some of the maverick flags and have re touched them without too much bother. It will be the easiest way to match them to your facing colours. Just get paul to slap some paint on.

Re: French cavalry uniforms of the WSS

Try this http://www.thewaroffice.co.uk/blenheim/

take the uniforms with a pinch of salt but its a start. Just click on the brigade and it takes you to a uniform plate.

Re: WSS Smackdown - a new project

Hi Ray, I'm planning on doing 9 battalions of English/scots from the three brigades or Rowe, Webb and Fergusson for the english contingent. These will form two brigades in my army. I am then doing holstein becks brigade as per the blenhiem orbat. I will also be doing the english cavalry and dragoons...

Re: WSS Smackdown - a new project

So this is what I have started with. A few bits to test colours and styles to see what works. This is the first of my brigade command stands: http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z157/jezamonos/WSS003.jpg I then started on the first regiment. I wanted to base my force around the battle of blenhiem in ...

WSS Smackdown - a new project

Well its a new year so time for a new project. I had never thought about this period until a friend mentioned it. He already has a pile of French to paint and asked if Id be interested in doing the grand alliance. Show me some pretty pictures I said and i will be convinced, a quick email later and I...

Re: WSS-era Artillery and 28mm Front Rank Models

From my earlier topic on the same question: EQ8 model - Spoke to Alec at FR and he confirmed that they are for lighter and heavy 6pdr barrels. For early 18th C the larger more cumbersome one should be used, later in the century a smaller lighter barrel was developed to aid moving the guns on the bat...

Prince von Holstein-Beck

I am about to start painting up the prince as one of my brigade commanders and then it struck me, what would he be wearing uniform wise? I really have no idea as to what colours to use. Although he was serving in dutch pay, he was a prussian so would he be in a prussian uniform ? Maybe dark green wi...

Re: 60mm x 60mm bases

I also use the PWS bases. They are fantastic but your postie will complain when he brings the box!

And 50mm x 50mm for 6 figure infantry
70x60 for 3 figure cavalry
50x50 for light guns + 2 figures
60x90 for field guns + 4 figures
