Smartly done, Stephen, and with the flags in the correct order of precedence, a detail so many miss! :D

Re: Russian standards...

Sorry, Jim. I am well aware of the limitations of Viskovatov with regards to the Napoleonic period, but for the GNW era--I'll have to pass.

Good luck.

Re: Russian standards...

For James: the GNW is not my 'period', but from a cursory look into A.V. Viskovatov (and some dodgy quick 'translation'), it appears that all flags had gilt (golden-plated) finials, with two cords (with tassels) in the 'metalic' colour of the unit--e.g., gold or silver. I'm most impressed by the obvious quality of Gunfreak's painting. Neat layering, tidy details, excellent colour choices and contrasts! Patience and practice have paid off very handsomely Truls! :D

Re: White Russia and Ahtyrka Hussars

Thanks, my hussars are based on Leipzig, would pennants been more common by then? Officially, no pennons for hussars, with the two 'exceptions' mentioned by Stephen above: lance pennons/pennants were a key distinguishing characteristic of the 10 regiments of Uhlans. The most in-depth discussion of ...

Sorry, Stephen, I'd forgotten the 'background' behind your project. Based on that battle, then my recommendation of the Izyum Hussars still stands: http://mapswar2.x10host.com/maps_war_1812.htm#_maps_ggg.

Re: White Russia and Ahtyrka Hussars

It depends on how ‘historical’ you want to be, Stephen, versus getting a nice mix of regimental ‘colours’ on the table. If we follow the ‘historical’ path of ‘formal’ organisation, consulting A.V. Viskovatov’s Organisation of the Russian Army: 1801-1825 http://marksrussianmilitaryhistory.info/Visk10...

Re: White Russia and Ahtyrka Hussars

Well done, Truls! :D I'm looking forward to painting up two 24-figure regiments of these (Mariupol & Sumskii) from my lead pile, when I finish the last foot battery I'm currently working on . . . For 'variety', I chose one unit in 'campaign' and one in 'full dress' uniform. Based on my research, nei...
