Jealous here tovarisch, I'm struggling to put a brigade together. Great stuff.

Re: Battle of Fornovo Project Ahoy!

Thanks for that. I'm looking forward to seeing the end product! For some weird reason (cheapskate probably) I went the 1/72 route for the Italian Wars and have more or less completed 3 out of four small armies and it has been a bit of a struggle. Seeing what you are doing simply confirms I made a ba...

Re: Battle of Fornovo Project Ahoy!

Whose figures are you using Darrell? They look tasty even unfinished.

Matchlock-armed Highlander

I got one of the matchlock-armed Highlanders in the gallery as an 'at the door' give-away at the Forfar show a couple of years back.

Re: Battle of the Boyne small scale

Shaun, make sure you look at the new list of Pendraken LoA, they are a quantum improvement on the old ones. At present they only do foot, other arms are promised in the pipeline. These are all from the old list, supplemented with mounted command figures from other lists: http://i145.photobucket.com/...

Re: British Colours at Culloden

Cheers Ray. I don't think I'd go as far as tell your mate that they're all wrong. SYW will look the part anyway; besides, who would really know the difference if the different colours were presented in a 'blind' tasting?

Thanks Ray, more or less how I saw it myself. Convinced now it's the way to go.

Cheers,

British Colours at Culloden

I seem to have got myself somewhat stuck on this one. As far as I understand it, Warrants (more like guidelines) regulating the numbers and appearance of the colours of the marching regiments were issued in 1742, '43 and '47 with the enforced Warrant in 1751, which appears to roll up all the previou...

Re: The cost of wargames figures

All about disposable income really and how to dispose of it. I like miniatures, I like going to the pub, running a car, buying books and music, DVDs, etc. So, to make the cash go further my figures are either 1/72 plastic, smaller scale metal, second hand or selected 28mm from the cheaper end (caref...

Re: Killiecrankie questions???

This is what I collated from God alone knows how many internet searches and book searches, intending on 'doing' the whole thing: General Sir Hugh Mackay of Scourie. 5000, also 9 small artillery pieces. Dutch-Scottish regiments:12 companies 100 men each instead of 13. 1/3 pikemen. Balfour’s Fusiliers...

He also died there a pathetic drunk, good riddance. A man who brought nothing but death and disaster to those he pretended to rule.

Re: Jacobite?? Or not!

@Rebel Deposed by 'a union of English Parliamentarians with the Dutch stadtholder William III of Orange-Nassau (William of Orange).' Why? A justifiable suspicion of James' motives as he had already proved himself untrustworthy. The issues in contention were important to people then; repeal of the Te...

Anti. As a Republican, I have little sympathy for crowned heads in general, even less for deposed ones trying to make a come-back. :)
