oh ho !! Will be plastered with fow adverts in no time at all, mind you it already has  To be honest, a new owner may breath a bit of life into the magazine. Some of the articles have been a bit of a hit and miss of late ( my view only) :) M I've missed something here :? Which magazine?

Good brushmanship, I like the nice simple shield designs. Are those Old Glory Franks?

Thanks all. Schellenburg was the one I had in the back of my mind. I was a bit dubious about Fynske having only seen it in the Osprey and white cuffs being very impractical :) If there is an alternative uniform with grey coats and green cuffs could it be the drummer/officer or vice versa?

Green Coats

Between 1688 and 1700 did any state / regiments (apart from the Russians) wear green coats?

On a related note; the one part of a recent game that did not feel quite right was when infantry narrowly lost a melee and then got a "Retreat" morale result. Turning your back on cavalry in contact seemed like an unlikely and suicidal option (and did turn out to be in our game.) Were we doing somet...

Nice job. Haven't seen those figures before, very characterful. Is the varnish one with a wash in it or just to seal the paintjob? I like the effect you have got on the metallics but should the swordblade be bronze in this period?

The 25mm Figures Finally See Action...

A quick battle report of our first Beneath the Lily Banners game using what 25mm figures we have painted up so far. The scenario was based around the troops we had ready but I probably made it more difficult to balance than I needed to by staging an attack on defences game also complicated by the as...

The WRG book "Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars" had some information on the colours of clothing worn for hoplites and phalangites, however I think the available info is pretty slim. The other place worth looking is in the back issues of Slingshot; I have the CDs somewhere, I will run a search...

Excellent! I like the proportions of Perry figures but I will need opponents for my TAG Austrians and Eagle Spanish, rather than 100 Days French. It looks like the sprues come with a load of spare heads so even shako plates may not be an issue.

Hi Paul, That's a tricky one. The most enthused I get is in the run up and just after a our monthly wargames. Possibly a simple way to rejuvenate your hobby interest would be a new slant on something that you already do. A new army, theatre, level of combat or just a new rules set to try out? Severa...
