Light troops & Smaller actions 1680 1700

Has any one any information on this or suggestions of where I could look fr some as I am aware light troops particularly infantry didn't have that much of a role on a battle field but that they existed. This rather begs the question what was their role & as I am interested in large skirmishes does a...

Firing drills - rules design implications.

I am trying to get my head around period firing drills and their implications for a game as far as I can see form what I have read for 1680-1700 they seem to have been either some sort of rotational drill designed to keep up a constant hail of fire on an opponent whist still retaining some loaded we...

Re: WARFARE MINIATURES 28mm LoA RANGE

Updated ETA on the second wave as I have rather broken my Painters block & want more & different figures to add to the mix NOW!. As for size and character I am planing on mixing in Dixon LoA & Grand alliance as they look right stood together and as I am doing a militia company Dixon's levy add to th...

French Millitia company - WIP

I have the first batch of my French Militia, thirty Musketeers, officers and Nco's & a drummer more or less done. As they are for the painting competition I want to add a standard and some pike men as I feel a Militia unit should have some even when the regulars have abandoned them, before I start p...

Re: Brandenburg Uniform Questoin (battle of the boyne)

Commenting on the bayonets issue as I know little of the uniforms of the period, they are fragile and the advancing poses work as troops moving forward through a firing line using rotational fire, its not a drill position but not a bad way to move a loaded musket fairly close formation. The lack of ...

Re: Need opinions on 28mm 'blurred' SS camo

Assuming that its meant to represent, or rather suggest one of the "oak leaf" types then it works rather well if its meant to suggest "pea dot" you need to suggest the dots, even if they are too small to be visible scaled down to 25mm, or at least I would.

You obviously don't do any wargaming in Scotland
or any where else in Cold Damp Land for that matter, the recent unseasonal warm spell which lasted two days mind being the exemption not the rule.

Re: 2nd wave

It is, but not necessary for my budget & spare time as I have just ordered some more for the Militia unit, direct as I have rather dented the trial stock at Spirit, not to mention some complimentary bits form other peoples ranges including the Jesuit priest figure which the kind folks here found for...

Re: Create a smoke artillery explosion

You can get "Kapok" without murdering cuddly toys you know, just steel yourself & go into a craft shop and buy it by the yard or metric equivalent its also in most cheep cushions, pillows & duvets if you must stab stuff to get it. However I do agree it looks effective I use green sprayed Kapok for W...
