Re: Walloon and Flemish regiments?

Arthur, I only meant "suggest" in the sense that you proposed that coloring as a possibility due to the facts that you describe, not that you were indicating it with some authority. :) I do appreciate your input. Hopefully, someone will know of or be able to quote (or paraphrase) sources which would...

Re: Walloon and Flemish regiments?

Excellent and thank you to the both of you.

@wdrenth,

Do know what the regimental colorings were or should I go with Arthur's suggestion of green coats lined in red as those were the standard for Imperial Walloon troops? How about the dragoon's colorings?

Walloon and Flemish regiments?

I have C.S. Grant's Armies and Uniforms of Marlborough's Wars Volume 1 and in the entry for the Dutch army, he alludes to Walloon (but not Flemish) regiments that wore green coats, but his regimental listing does not include these formations. I am trying to determine what, if any, regiments were rai...

WIP Campaign Map - Comments/Corrections desired

Gentlemen, I'm nearly done with the map for my Imagi-Nation campaign set in an alternative 1708 timeline. While it is not true history, so to speak, I am still modeling the map after actual geography as best I can. Given that, I am trying to pin down whether or not I have the significant terrain cor...

English Army: Age of Officers

Gents, I am attempting to do research on the internal make up of the English Army during the NYW through WSS. I have access to a copy of Scouller's The Armies of Queen Anne but I am looking for other sources as well. At the moment, I am trying to get a sense of the average age of a young man when he...

Sources of artillery images for WSS

Gents, I have gone through the English language sources that I have access to, here in the States, but am curious about French, Dutch, and German sources which may contain picture, drawings, or blueprints (well, diagrams) of artillery pieces of the NYW/WSS/GNW periods. If any of you know of free, in...

Need comments on Austrian (Imperial) cavalry

Gentles, I am working on adapting BLB2 to an imagi-nation campaign. A portion of the campaign involves the players selecting certain characteristics, which determine forces available for army selection. To that end, I have looked at the Anglo-Dutch OOBs, but have little to go on for the Austrians, w...

Imagi-Nation Blog. Set in 1708

Gentlemen, I have recently begun an imagi-nation project to be the background for my WIP WSS army. Since I am using Barry's most excellent BLB2 rules at the tactical level, I thought to pass along word of my project to others who have similar interests. This is the site: http://dutch-kent.blogspot.c...

..and I'm back!

Hello Gents, I have been away a long while, due to computer hardware issues that are not fully resolved, as yet, but I am back...and glad of it. I just received my copy of BLB2, this week, and I am already very pleased with the quality of the book as well as the changes to the rules from BLB1. My so...

Re: BLB Demo game, suggestions welcome

I ran the demo game for my club this past Saturday. It was well received and several people liked it enough to begin collecting new armies for the period. I have posted a short battle report here: http://royalistroundhead.blogspot.com/ and I invite you to peruse it. I ended up creating my own scenar...

No Peace Without Spain (possible campaign mechanism)

Gents, This http://compassgames.com/show/product/no_peace_without_spain arrived at my abode on Saturday last and I think it a very likely candidate for a campaign system for the WSS. I hope to play it this weekend or early next week, followed by a review on my blog, but suffice to say, the map http:...

Oh, I was not picking on your word choice... "Taste" works just fine in the context, really.
