Re: Question about the Lancers of the Guard at Waterloo

Sergio, the difference of the trousers may be a result of the incorporating of 2 Young Guard Squadrons into the Red Lancers. As soon as I am at home again I can find out. Some history can be found here http://www.napolun.com/mirror/napoleonistyka.atspace.com/IMPERIAL_GUARD_cavalry_1.html#frenchguar...

Question about the Lancers of the Guard at Waterloo

Hello, I should paint some miniatures of the Lancers of the Guard of Napoleon at Waterloo, but there arose a doubt about the color of their trousers. In the drawing published in the book by Ugo Pericoli "1815 The Armies At Waterloo", table 19, the Lancers Troop is depicted with red trousers, while t...

Re: Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

Sergio, Excellent. I think we are gradually seeing an increasing number of Napoleonic Wargames Rules using correct tactics. I have had similar success in discussions with the author of the Black Powder Albion Triumphant supplements. I feel fairly expert on British tactics (I own copies of all their...

Re: Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

Sergio, Ospreys are OK but are no substitute for historical research. The General Orders issued by Wellington are reproduced below: ----------- Wellesley lands at Mondego Bay, Portugal – 1 August 1808. Extract from General Order issued at Lavos on 3 August 1808 The Lieutenant General requests the G...

Re: Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

British tactical practice in the Armies commanded by Wellington in the Peninsula and Waterloo was for skirmish screens to be formed as temporary Brigade Light Battalions, by amalgamating all of the light companies in each brigade (plus the 5/60th or Brunswick Oels rifle company in the Peninsula) wh...

Re: Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

That is quite some Info you want here :D Ok, first the french Voltigeurs were mostly smaler men who were thought to be better suited for hunting and such things. I cant say if they were drawn from their battalions and or the depot but possible. In case of Infantry of Austria and Saxony they had a d...

Re: Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

The common structure (Textbook) saw a French Infantry Division with 3 Line Regiments and 1 Light Regiment. This wasn't often the case. If a "Line" Division goes into battle half or 2/3rd of the Light Infantry deploys in Skirmish order along the complete front of the Division to provide skirmish cov...

Questions regarding the Light Infantry.

With regard to the Light Infantries of the Napoleonic era I read in various sources that I could find, that despite being trained to fight in skirmish formation, they were often deployed and fighted in the same way of the Line Infantry. The French Light Infantry Battalions were different from those ...

HELP: flag of the regiment Nigrelli - zum Jungen

Hi, I would need a picture of the regimental flag of the Austrian regiment Nigrelli , who in 1703 became the regiment zum Jungen. Possibly the regimental flag used by the regiment in 1706, during the siege of Turin. Someone who happened to have it, would he be so kind as to send it to me? My email: ...

Re: number of figures for a horse regiment

With our Regulation Naran Fucilier Wars (derived from Fantasy Warriors), we have adopted for the cavalry unit, corresponding to the regiments, a number of figures between 10 and 12. We relied on the "blister packs" of Front Rank, which contain precisely 12 miniatures. At the moment, our Cavalry regi...

Re: a flag for my Jung-Daun regiment

Sergio, You said you have the Hall CD. Is it "Uniforms and Flags of the Imperial Austrian Army 1683-1720"? If so the flags for Jung-Daun are on Pg 303. Sorry, Jeff, I have: "Materials on the War of the Spanish Succession 1701-1714 - The Imperial Regiment of Foot 1701-1714" by August Kuhn - Robert H...
