Just a little caveat, some of the skytrex stuff seems to be larger than the flames of war 15mm scale, I have a skytrex tiger for example which is larger than the fow official one so be warned, stowage might be ok though never ordered any.

There is a yahoo group for wecw where thirty years war amendments and army lists have been published. I suggest you go join it at www.groups.yahoo.com and search for wecw

The group seems quite lively although the 30yw chat has quietened down a little in the past couple of weeks.

the crusader set is reviewed on the miniatures page, if you have no idea where that is try www.theminiaturespage.com. The reveiw seems to say they are a sort of hybrid from wab and another set.

obvious questions John, how large scale do you want these battles to be? hoe complicated do you want the rules? for beginning i would suggest armati or vis bellica, probably if you want the macedonians etc then vis bellica may be the better choice. personal view avoid dba and dbm like the plague, th...

The Osprey book on Louis XIV army has a couple of useful plates in it. I can probably provide electronic copies of the relevant plates if required.
