Re: Blenheim OOB

No, I don't think either of them were. I'm painting for Ramillies. There were some units at both battles, but there is a lot of divergence. Lots of Dutch at Ramillies but not at Blenheim. Lots of Imperial troops at Blenheim that didn't go to the Low Countries.

Re: Blenheim OOB

Nicely done! Big units good! A few questions about these and what you have upcoming: - Are you getting dismounts for these lads? - Does your painter hand paint the flags? If not, where do you plan to get your Hanoverian flags? - It looks like you used the cav figs rather than the dragoon figs for th...

Thanks, Alan. I'll be there at the end of June and I'll try to make arrangements where you stayed. Sounds great.

Thanks Alan.

Please let me know what it was like after you've been. Sounds like it might work.

visiting Ramillies

I'm going to be in Belgium for work in June (Brussels). I'm trailing 3 days of vacation after that. Ideally I'd like to visit Ramillies, Oudenarde, and Malplaquet. That's prolly too ambitious. I *must* get myself to Ramillies though. Anyone here been there and have recommendations about places to st...

Re: Holstein-Gottorp uniforms (WSS)

Yeah, why depicted in the cassock was really my question, and behind that, why these folks and no one else in the plates? It would be a lot easier to have them just in their coats (does anyone make figures of guys wearing the cassocks?)

Holstein-Gottorp uniforms (WSS)

Hi, I have the Robert Hall plates. He depicts the infantry in a kind of cassock. I also have the Goldberg doc and he does the same but under descriptions of the infantry states "uniform unknown." My German isn't good enough to know what else he might say about the uniforms - I was scanning it and no...

Re: BLB2 Test game 2

I have casualty bases that I use. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture of one. It's a base that holds a casualty figure and has a cut out that holds two dice so you can count 0-36 with two six sided dice - if you remember base 6 from your school days.

Re: Argyll Regiment at Ramillies

I think if you check your Goldberg source more closely you'll see that it is one and the same as Strathnaver and the uniform according to Goldberg is unknown.

Argyll was the oberst from 1702 and was promoted to brigadier in 1704.

Re: Smaller battles rules for the period?

Sounds interesting to me. Card stimulated vs. card driven sounds like an interesting distinction. I guess Maurice will be more of a card driven game. Maurice-lite is out now and I've downloaded it but haven't tried doing anything with it yet. Personalities are a valuable add to games in my opinion. ...

Re: New ebor WSS mounted officer and dolly size comparison

I have the Kuhn/Hall work on the army of Brandenburg Prussia. Apparently the cassock was pervasive and could be found in Flanders up until 1710. The split cuffs (I'm sure there is a name for that) was present on the coats of some regiments and not on others). If you're going to do figures for Prussi...

Re: One Battle to rule them all - 1660 to 1721

The campaign would be Turenne's final campaign in the Rhineland from 1673 til his death at Salzbach in 1675, campaigning against his old foe Montecuccoli. This would also feature the exploits or misadventures of young John Churchill and the English Brigade. Bill Bill, I've only been able to find a ...
