Topic: Disorder - should it be removed as a morale modifier??

Perhaps only in a morale check if being charged. Disorder is physical and shaken mental. Shaken makes sense to me to be a minus for all morale checks, disorder should only be a modifier if they are about to experience something unpleasant (charge) and because of the disorder they are more likely to ...

I know we are, but lets all keep in mind realism vs playability balance. If we start adding this for that modifiers we are taking away from playability for a little bit of realism.

That said, we like the first fire modifier. The shoot first because we didn't move idea, not so much.

I havent used them yet and they are really suited for larger games than the small ones I have played so far. But if you read them you get a feel for this period.

An epiffany of sorts about BLB as a whole. It's not about winning and losing a game. It's about the fun, accepting the results and using your imagination to pull yourself into the game to visualize the events as they unfold. Every game is a story. One advantage this period has over later ones is its...

I would allow the charge as they were shaken at the time declared. In all things as with war there is always luck. Shaken is a mental state and disorder a physical one. The charging unit would see the waivering in their eyes and charge but then the commander would say something profound and stiffen ...

I havent seen this anywhere that I can recall so we changed the infantry following up rule. Infantry in defended obstacle such as redoubt, field work, village or defending a river and win the melee against charging infantry do not follow up. It still counts as a push-back. The combatants remain in c...

I have played a very large number of BLB games, (80+) and like the morale system exactly as it is. Why aren't there more like minded players in my area?! We played a BLB game Monday night, one of the players made comments like :"these rules may be historically accurate but they are not historically...

Thanks. The only other true historical gamer in my area is a rules writer himself and can never leave a set of rules alone. One of his complaints about BLB is morale, he would rather see standardization ie. the 6 being bad for cavalry and good for infantry, he asks why?. I have no problem with the r...

I would rather have a glossy well presented set of rules with examples of play and design notes than a low cost black and white DBA styled rule book.

I'm not a big Napoleonic player but will eventually get RTE to add to my collection of rules.

Sod off to the TMP boardies with their negative energy.

Morale

We had some weird situations tonight mainly due to both players having plodding generals. Here's one of them Situation, infantry battalion routs. Plodding general rolls 'zero' units to command the next turn. No chance to rally those troops as they cannot get a rally command. Do routers make another ...

Maybe a little more FoW than they originally promised. I hope that this hasn't set a precedent I've always loved WI and still subscribe to it. I will say I am not a large fan of FOW. Great figures/models, good rules for competition games, interesting scenarios and in a nice package. That said we do...

would like to know what it has to offer say over Naploenics What does any period have over the others? Your level of interest. For me; Battles 'can' be smaller than Naps broad sweeping engagements. Leaning towards the use of 28s Units are named after their colonel versus a number. aka personality. ...

Woah, woah! Gentlemen you can't fight in here, this is the War Room. Seriously, there are no experts, just people with opinions. Even historians are only passing on their opinions based on their studies. None of us lived then so lets keep our opinions cordial. :) My opinion, there weren't light troo...
