GMB Flags

Gents, My 'puter died last week, taking with it all my wargaming files, and about 25,000 words of manuscript. While I can always re-write the damend book, the loss of the anorack files was quite a blow. I therefore need your help with something, as I lsot the on-line order form; I need to order some...

Iain, One way or another it'll be the last one in the Meadowbank nuclear bunker. The new venue (fingers crossed there's no last minute hitch) is larger, brighter, breezier ... and it has a bar! We hope to announce the signing of the deal on Saturday. For pubs, right now you'll have to make do with t...

Barry,

My favourites are the mineseweeper and the flashlight (torch) ones. Probably the weakest is the quote by Henry Ford. Ooops...

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh - 2010 would be the 200th anniversary of Bussaco... although a refight of Talavera would allow the Spanish to make an appearance, however brief it might be...

Oooh oooh Penisular - oooh oooh please... etc etc.

B*gg*r buckets. This should be a game based on history, not a crap shoot... Ignore the pleas of the Warhamster crowd, and keep the die-rolling to a minimum!

Gents,

I will admit that Bob, Peter and I did "close the bar" at 1.30am (well, they'd run out of most things anyway), and that Rioja, Deuchars and Highland Park make for a particularly heady cocktail.

Oh and Dave: Next time I'll know exactly where to have my 3am pee...

Gentlemen, I heartily congratulate Charles for organising and running such a splendid weekend game. I had great fun in the gorge, while the Spanish town was a delight to see - and probably an equal delight to bombard. The big Sunday game was well orchestrated, and ran like clockwork - a real advert ...

Bonapartic

Of course, some of us refuse to accept there's such a period as "Napoleonics". The Corsican ogre was called Bonaparte by the Allies (who refused to recognise the upstart's self coronation), so that's good enough for me! Anyway, calling it "ogreonics" is a bit of a mouthful, and sounds like something...

Gentlemen, The charity issue with Claymore has been a long-running battle, and in the Club the "givers" have always had their way. This year the donation has been scaled down, as the SESWC need to build up a Claymore "fighting fund", to cope with the inevitable costs of changing venue. Even then it ...

Re: Claymore

Dear All, I didn't write this, but as I'm a member of the group (and theoretically a Claymore "helper") then I said I'd post a cool and groovy response. Its real author is Jack Glanville, the Claymore organiser, who therefore should know what the score is! For my part, I feel (if anyone cares), Cla...

Barry, You might live to regret that comment about Boris the Buffoon. He's within a hairs-breadth of becoming the Mayor of London, which is certainly a frightening prospect! The inhabitants of the South British shires certainly display their peculiarities in the privacy of the ballot booth... perhap...

Peninsular Frolics

Charles, Those units are the 3rd, 48th & 57th Foot, and a battalion each of the 11th and 23rd Portuguese Line. All are 30 figure battalions. I also plan to paint up a battery of three guns (KGL 9-pdrs.), a dozen British skirmishers and 16-24 Portuguese Cacadores by the game, plus a divisional comman...
