I'm the other way around - I can provide some troops in 15mm.

It does sound interesting!

I'd say 15mm would be easier than 25mm - it's not only a question of transporting figures, but also the space you need to put on a satisfactory battle.

Painting/Highlighting blackened armor

My Warlord cuirassiers arrived, and they're the first thing on the painting table. This raises the question - how do people (especially Barry) paint/highlight their blackened armor when it constitutes most of the figure? Most of my experience is with 15mm SYW or Napoleonicss where it's pretty simple...

Do you have a shot of the difference between the old basing and the new? Are you changing the frontage, or just the depth?

The only "problem" with the paint job I can see is that you didn't paint eyes on the guys. The only reason I can tell is because of the excellent zoom lens showing a close up of some faces.

On the table, they will make a splendid target for Frenchmen!

Armored Pikemen

How common were armored pikemen in ECW regiments by 1643/44?

Warlord makes what looks like a pretty nice armored pikeman, and I'm wondering if they're historically plausible for the southern/western campaigns.

Thanks.

There's always the Pike and Shotte War Poodle that comes with their Prince Rupert of the Rhine figure, should you need one for another French general.

Thanks! I have Peter Young's book on the way, and some more web sources for the 1643/44 campaigns in the South and West, but every little bit helps!

Thanks. I've already had yours bookmarked for future use.

Why did you do Sir Richard Norton's regiment in red coats? http://www.ecwsa.org/histbattleofcropredybridge.html lists "The Kentish Regiment" as having red coats, but that's the only coat color they're sure of.

ECW Horse uniforms

Recommendations on sources for ECW horse uniforms? I'm especially interested in King's Army at Oxford in 1643-44, and Sir William Waller's army down south. I've a number of sources on foote regiments, but finding anything more difinative than "all buffcoat" or "anything you want" is more difficult f...

Is there a British regiment you find yourself consistently borrowing for some reason - or wishing somebody else had, but they don't?

If there is, that sounds like a good place to start!

Follow up on Eagle Miniatures - nice sculpts, but bad castings. Lots of missing bayonets, malformed bayonets, non-existent facial casts, and lots of flash.

Unfortunate.

I have Essex, Old Glory and Falcon, with Eagle miniatures on the way. Essex have their own distinctive style - if you don't like their figures in other periods, you probably will not like their Franco-Prussian lines. I rather like their artillery, the infantry are all right, and the generals paint u...
