Re: Flags for Infantry of the Swabian Circle

Volume 2 of "L'Esercito Imperiale al tempo del Principe Eugenio di Savoia" shows a different flag for the regiment Roth (War Flag Rodt?). It has seven long blue flames going from top to just a bit short of the bottom with corresponding white flames going bottom to top. Oval shield in the middle with...

Company and Battalion Organization

In how many ranks did the following form in line of battle?
-Austrians
-Swiss
-Danes
-Bavarians
-Cologne
Would the Swiss modify their formations to match the country for whom they served? Would French Swiss be in four ranks while Dutch Swiss were in three?

Danish Foot Guard

http://images.nypl.org/index.php?id=91853&t=w Just curious about this image. The image comes from the NYPL collection. It is listed under the Dutch, but is obviously a picture of a soldier of the Danish Livgarde Til Fods (Dutch funded I presume). Yellow coat with red facings to include the "ladder"...

Re: a flag for my Jung-Daun regiment

Sergio,

You said you have the Hall CD. Is it "Uniforms and Flags of the Imperial Austrian Army 1683-1720"? If so the flags for Jung-Daun are on Pg 303.

Re: Osnabruck Leibgarde Regiment

Back at home and went through my references. Apparently I crossed my wires while jumping between my Austrian Army CD (Hall and Boeri) and my Dutch CD (Belaubre and Golberg). It is the Osnabruck/Lorraine Regiment that I was inquiring about. Graf Bretlach, your comments were spot on. Many thanks for t...

Re: Osnabruck Leibgarde Regiment

Gents, many thanks for the info. Interesting regiment that doesn't get much press. Graf Bertlach, excuse my ignorance, but what reference is "Wrede"? Turrabear, I return home on Friday, I'll look at my CD and see who made it. It's in German too so maybe we have the same one. Anyone have a picture of...

Re: Osnabruck Leibgarde Regiment

The leibgarde regiment is the one I'm looking for. I thought I saw that they were at Almansa and then up in Flanders, working from memory so I'm probably wrong. I've got the Dutch Army CD translated by Dan Schorr and that's where I saw them mentioned, apparently they were in Dutch pay. Any good sour...

Osnabruck Leibgarde Regiment

Can anyone recommend some references for the Osnabruck LeibGarde during the LOW/WSS period? Google, yahoo etc. have turned up nothing. The only mention I have seen is on the Dutch CD (Hall I believe). It looks like they served at Almansa as well as Oudenarde and Malplaquet.

DANISH UNIFORMS

Hello, Long time lurker who's decided to make the plunge. I know this isn't a new topic, but I've gone over every thread and I'm still unclear on some things. Two questions here. Firstly the regiment Fynsk (Funen). It apears they were in green coats with yellow distinctions into 1679. By 1700 we hav...
