Re: TYW Cavalry

I hope they'll be an army one day, or at least a decent sized Bavarian corps. I haven't foggiest what rules to use, none seem to capture the period that well. What do you recomend. No Idea either. Sorry. Those Saxons I started need also a good quality Rule Set. I search for one that is not too simp...

Are you go to extend them into a little Army one day? An Imperial may be?

Re: Flag Size

When You order Flags from Barry he can resize those Flags to what ever the printer/program is able to. Just tell him the, for you, appropriate dimension you have in mind and Barry can check it out. The Size Barry uses are a bit larger than normal as he prefers "heroic" Sizes of Flags. My Flags, whic...

Re: Saxon tactical formations during TYW

As posted in the other Thread referring to the Late Period of the TYW the Saxons had only 3 Regiments that have been hald Cuirassiers, half Arkebusiers. The remaining 16 Regiments were Arkebusiers only.

First Batch of Miniatures have arrived. Glued them on single Bases, for now, 60+ Miniatures with a lot of Head variants and wire Pikes. Rich in detail, Heads not glued on yet.

Re: Saxon tactical formations during TYW

...Would there be a mix of cuirassiers and arquebusiers in the same squadron or regiment? My thought would be separate regiments, as this is an administrative unit, formed up in mixed units (size?) for battle. Jeff, Their was no mix of different Cavalry types in the same Horse Regiments, Kürisser, ...

I thought so  Not that I should start to talk about the number of timelines I have my fingers in but at least I have, besides of 500+ ACW Rebels, mainly Saxons :D . But only 2 finished Armies, GNW and Napoleonic....

The following Pictures are showing how "Uniform" the Elector dressed his Soldiers and how they would have looked like at the start of the Conflict and the first Mustering of troops of Saxony. It will also suit for the first Year(s) of the 3rd Mustering Period 1631-1649. https://live.staticflickr.com...

Re: TYW - Late Period 1632 to 1648 Saxon Army

The whole point of this historical excerpt was to inform you all about a project which I initiated about 4 Years ago. One which had to stall for an uncertain amount of time after the first orders and payments. In October 2015 I met with Steve Barber, my Friend and Sculptor to discuss the possibiliti...

Re: TYW - Late Period 1632 to 1648 Saxon Army

The Regiments in Detail: It has to be said that of some of them no Colors(?) are know. For those who have Color Information's the colors stand for the Standards, Flags and Guidons (Fändel) like the Fields and Stripes or ornaments. On the Trumpets were the same colors. The Ornaments showed religious ...

Re: TYW - Late Period 1632 to 1648 Saxon Army

With this posting I will give a short frame of the Saxon Army in the time from 1631 to 1635 The Commanding officers changed several times in this Period, most of them came from other protestant Countries like Brandenburg and Denmark or from Imperial Service. Cavalry End of 1631: 5 Regiments and 2 Co...

Nice little buggers Ray:-) And very colorful too! :D

Personally I find it always a bit weird if one paints smaller Miniatures but keeps the Ration small also. No offense intended.
