Of course Dave, that rule is not in Essentials but part of the main text.

Re: Let me know if you've played any of the scenarios please

Merci Loisyann. It is very frustrating when you get to a 'great shot' but the ship keeps moving I agree! Yes Tacking is a MOVE IN IRONS and needs a skill check pass. Reload is a mandatory skill check. One releoad cover EITHER/BOTH broadsides. I am just researching a fantastic history of the French p...

Re: Russell's Horse

I am sure I have a trace on the regiment post Russell's removal. I'll have to did through some old files to find it. As for the colonel himself he was active in Connaught in 1689 and was with the Williamite Sligo garrison I believe. He fought Sarsfield on the road to Sligo in October of 1689 near Ba...

Re: Dragoons and Grenadiers

All good on everything you wrote 8)

With regard to your dragoons on foot - treat them as a Drilled infantry battalion with flintlock. Don't pay any extra points for the flintlock because they don't get the first fire bonus.

Let me know if you've played any of the scenarios please

I am very keen to know what kind of outcomes players managed from the example scenarios:

Which were your ship choices?
What heroics occurred?
What rules challenges (I hope very few) did you encounter?
What questionsyou might have?

Thanks

Re: Dragoons and Grenadiers

Let me take those questions one at a time Dragoons in Loose Order are harder to hit and move better over rough ground. They suffer from losing their First Fire option though. Are the rules exactly the same if they are in close order? I prefer not to give first fire bonuses to dragoons and see them a...

Re: Dutch guard

There is also such debate around the Huguenot regiments. I think it unlikley that French trained and officered units would have forsaken the pike in 1690. Combined with the Kirke/ Blue Guards anecdote, an eductaed assumption might be that crossing a tidal river with pikemen might have been very disr...
