Hi Clarence, I could be interested depending on the date, I need to know long in advance (3 months). I have a medium sized 28 mm collection, mostly French and British. Most units are 24 figures (1:30 ratio) with a few units at 36 figures. 16 battalions each of French and British now. Most of my cava...

It would seem to me that there were 3 British cavalry types in the peninsula, British and KGL Dragoons, Light Dragoons and KGL Hussars. Some specific units were the 1st and 2nd Heavy Dragoons, 14th and 16th Light Dragoons and the 1st KGL Hussars. I would troll through some peninsular war OB's to pic...

I have to admit, TMP is a bizarre place, notwithstanding the original review in WI, I find it amazing that the editor of TMP choose now to post these 3 posts, and why leave out Lasalle?

I suspect Clarence is right, and it is to generate traffic.

Hi Ed, I have played around with both ideas in respect to strength of units. I started by building to orbats, but really I have come to the conclusion that it is better to stick to some regularly sized units. The rulesets I have are mostly base dependent rather than figure dependent like RtE. I want...

I believe this interpretation contradicts a previous post on the same topic.

I wonder if we could get a clarification from Barry.

Thanks,

Thanks, I was in no way suggesting that learning of the rules is insurmountable. I am no expert, but I believe I have the grasped the essentials of the rules, although I have not looked at BUA and skirmishers sections yet. On the face of it, I quite like what the rules have to offer: Big battalions,...

Hi Dave, Nice BR, I am curious why you decided not to use cavalry in your OB. The Coa engagement has always captured my imagination, it it is the next scenario I plan to test using the RtE rules. I am not sure though if your statement The two new players who had never played with the rules before ma...

AAR Battle of Puente de Piedra

Hi, I finished my AR for my first use of the RtoE rules. Many thanks to Barry and Clarence for their help. The report is quite detailed and heavily illustrated. I am a new war gamer so the learning curve for me was a little steep but I quite liked the rules and am quite excited about playing my next...

Great illustration and explanation. It would be nice if there was an errata of illustrations as you have been doing Clarence.

Many thanks,

John

Thanks Barry. I believe my maths are the same as yours, but I use 0.25 rather than 1/4 (both being 25%). By complicated, I mean a lot of small scale measuring ie. do you round or actually measure 0.5 and 0.25 inch increments. It does seem a little fussy. I am trying to visualise a situation where th...

ROUT/RETREAT moves

So the cacadores are charging the ligne, they pass all their RESOLVE tests, the ligne however end with a ROUT on their Fight or Flight check. So the cacadores started their charge just outside of 3", they are in AC so move 14", the ligne get a 13" ROUT move. Are the rules actually saying that you re...
