10. Blade & Bullet Ah actually we don't like the 'Blade and Bullet' thing  Sounded a bit Flashing Blade and when we thought about that we felt very  How about Shock Horse and Horse. Oh and as we are on that (well we are now :) ) We thought that Shock Horse should only get this on contac...

Now having had time to number crunch the horse are only in BLB 2 more fragile than BLB1 due to the extra 50% morale test.

Although I have stated I like the idea of squadrons I can see that the rules mechanisums are leaning towards regiment/brigade size units.

I cannot put my finger on it!!

Now as much as that might sound like a line from a carry on film, it is something that has been niggling me for the last 36 hours. When we played our game on Sunday we had various discussions on aspects of the new rules and how they had changed from BLB1. Here is the problem as I see it. We are play...

So would that mean that horse losing in a combat would take 1 casualty plus the difference and the winner 1 casualty?

Just one question. In an All or Nothing charge of 3 squadrons they take 3 casualties now 2 are placed on the first squadron and 1 on the second. Now they test to charge home. Does the 1/3 casualties come in to the morale test for the front squadron or is it only 1/6 casualties across the entire regi...

Horse v Infantry combat

With reference to Infantry v Cavalry combats we need to understand what the rules are trying to represent. Cavalry declare a charge and start moving towards the foot. (point: do the cavalry move to a distance from the foot?) The foot should declare what they are going to do before they test (are the...

Just to point out what I mean when I say increasing the size of the cavalry squadrons. We mark off losses on record sheets. 18 boxes for foot and 6 for cavalry. There would be no problem in increasing the number of boxes for cavalry to 12. This way you would increase the survivability of the horse w...

Hi Barry We found that cavalry did not tend to ride down infantry as much as they used to infact most of the time if the foot could cause a casualty on the caavalry in shooting and did not break on their morale check then the cavalry would rout on the 50% test. Cavalry combats were over quickly due ...

Cavalry to fragile.

Hi so we had one of our big games today. So approx 35 squadrons aside and about 20 Battalions. So we had loads of opportunities to test out various rules. The one thing that came up was the fragility of Cavalry squadrons. Especially when they were in combat with Infantry. The number of times that a ...

I think that if you want to keep the 3 range bands then a better interpretation would be. Effective 0-4" Not very effective 4-6" absolute waste of shot 6-8" :D If the rule about rank firing being able to charge unshaken foot is included how about this, If charging shaken foot then no initial test to...

Or you could count a squadron as 12 figures.

Do most people use sheets to record casualties?

I have to say I like the idea of squadrons as they are now. But they are as stated a one shot wonder. I feel that they should up to a point not have a problem charging and retire easily without routing. At that point they will have problems advancing and then erode very quickly. (Thought remove inte...

We played shortened ranges in BLB V.1 basically we took out medium range except in charge reaction) and reduced long range 4-8 inches. This meant that you could start firing at long range quite ineffective or you could wait until short and get a good first volley off. (What would have been good woul...
